I have a wind chime in my home, the purpose is just to let it produce a sound as wind blows. We are using a kind of wind chime as picture shown. Do you have any other idea what's other purpose of putting wind chime on our doors and windows? I just want to know...thanks

Hi mobhomeir! I think they are wonderful for relaxation. The light tinkling ones..not the bolder loud ones..lol..I also think they are an art form. The people that make tese take great pains in their beauty and perfect sound. They are nice to look at so they could also be considered a form of decoration.

I think that is the only reason but I can imagine sometime back in time they might have been used to scare away evil spirits, I would normally look it up but I am really busy these days and falling behind in my work already.

Hi, mobhomeir! I think the purpose would be to let the sun catch a radiance on the windows of your home. It also chimes to reduce stress and fatigue. It helps one relax without having so much of tension. It represents an attitude of calmness.

Wind chimes are thought to be good luck in parts of Asia and are used in Feng Shui (it balances the Yin and the Yang, most commonly known as the postitive and negative aura that are present), according to Chinese, Japanese beliefs.
Wind Chimies were used for relaxation, pace and watching the metals clash together.

I have a wind chime in my bedroom. I just like to look at it.
I don;t know if I am violating feng shui rules or what. :-D

Some people say that chimes are hung to scare away evil spirits and bring good luck. Even if I don't believe in this practice, I hung wind chimes in our home because they were given to us as gifts by friends and I also love to hear the sound they make when the wind blows on them. I have read it somewhere that they used to hang chimes on large pagodas to scare away the birds. But what may be scary for the birds does the opposite to me, the sound of chimes produces a soothing and calming effect on me, relaxes me and makes me want to sleep.=)

Some people believe that when the wind chimes chime, it is suppose to keep the bad spirits away. It is also suppose to be bad luck if you make the wind chimes chime without wind.
Personally I don't believe it. I just like the sound of wind chimes.

I believe in Feng Shui. And according to feng shui wind chimes brings a positive vibration in your house. And it also depend on the colour and where you place it. For example a bamboo wind chime should be placed infront of the door to bring happiness in the house. A blue chime is to invite money. A silver one is for success if places in the proper direction. Avoid a red chime in the bedroom. It is not good.

I don't believe that because no human being can predict surely the future. But I respect what you have in your mind...thanks
