there is a hunger of appriciation in all us. it's a very good source of motivation also. sometimes when this hunger is not satisfied, it causes demotivation, discouragement and unhappiness. My question is -'WHY DO WE WAIT THAT SOMEONE COMES AND APPRICIATE Us?

Hi, B'cz it is our natural instinct to raise the 'Bar of Our own Performance'. We want do better & still better. Thus, just a 'Thumbs Up'/'Pat'(no words),kindle our productivity spirit. We come out of our 'comfort zone' & plunge to Perform IMPOSSIBLE(I-'m-possible). =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.

that is because people all crave to be appreciated, that is the feeling that sorts of reassures, or assures us that we are important, needed by a person or a group of people...

I guess cause its a good feeling...it kinda makes you feel good when you know that someone actually appreciates you.

Hello bhaskar. I Personally, I love to hear thank you, and "nice job" when I do something that caught my familys attention and they are proud of me. I think being appreciated is a very positive feeling. However, it can be bad if you rely on people to appreciate you in order for you to be happy. At one point in my life I was going through some harder times and my self-esteem wasnt that great. I needed alot of recognition. And when I wouldnt receive it, I felt very bad, unnoticed and unneeded. Fortunatly, years have past and my self-esteem has improved. Now I am proud of myself for aanything I accomplish, and to me that is all that matters, but it still feels good when others compliment me on things too!

Appreciation has lots of positives embedded it it. However, the basic things about this is motivation. Recognition is said to be best source to motivate someone. When we appreciate someone and when we are appreciated by someone then the motivation level goes up. This appreciation must be honest, otherwise it leads to false sense of uniqueness. Appreciation is also quoted in the needs hierarchy of Maslaw. In the hierarchy of needs appreciation fulfills our needs of self esteem. Being appreciated certainly leads to more self esteem......
