I am going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and have been doing a lot of research. This morning I came across a site that said Although Las Vegas was not one of the more dangerous cities, the state of Nevada is the most dangerous state in the US for murders, rapes, etc. My sister and I are renting a car and planning to drive in the desert and see the sites like Death Valley, etc....we will be traveling only in the day but I was wondering...id it safe for two girls to be traveling in this area?

Danger is everywhere. Just because the state is listed as the most dangerous, doesn't mean anything is going to happy to you. Stay on main highways and make sure you have a map, cell phone and charger, etc. It's best to have a plan in case of an unexpected events. Perhaps you can find a tour which you can take to the desert instead of a car rental. I'm sure there are group tours available as the major hotels. That way you don't have to drive and you can still go where you need to go.
