Have you ever had to call 911? I have a few times. Years ago when I was still living at my parents house and they were away there was some drunk guy walking around the neighborhood. He was breaking glass and making all kinds of noise. I got nervous so I called 911. I also called them when I saw a man abusing a woman out in public.

i have tried to get that at least trimmed. they won't do it,the power company won't,the city knows it's a problem but hasn't acted. the lines have come down three times, and it scares me because there's a K-5 school on the street.y'know, god forbid it comes down when they're coming or going.

I think they need to cut that tree down.

I have called several times, one time we came out of a restaurant and found a car in the parking lot was leaking gas all over, 911 sent the fire department. Another time someone set fire to our front field and the fire department came on that one also. i think we called when a man jumped out of a 18 wheeler on the freeway going about 50 miles an hour, good thing it was the passenger.

Those are some interesting situations. I wonder why the guy jumped out of the truck.

We were on vacation and just passing through but were able to get a newspaper from that town and read that he survived, never did find out why he jumped out, but spent the rest day making up stories about the possibilities. Never have forgotten that scene

Hi ya Shar19 I have personally never had the need to although here in the uk it is 999, same thing!! My eldest son has though and that was because he was 18 months old or so and got hold of the phone. They called us back to make sure everything was ok and got a ticking off for allowing my child to make the call. I understand they are busy but it certainly wasn't intentional!

Once, my cellar caught on fire and smoke starting pouring out of it. I of course called 911. This cause over 10 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, and a couple of sheriffs to rush to my house. It turned out my dryer caught on fire and the ventilation to the cellar carried the smoke. When they opened up the dryer it was fun to see the flames burst out 20 or so feet. This is why you never dry shoes, belts, and blankets all at once. ;)

I've also called on the abuse in public thing. But one time, my sister and I were driving home from Portland and there was this guy swerving, at 75mph on the freeway. When my sister and I got next to him, I looked over and he was SLEEPING!!!!! Mind you, this is a 4 lane freeway nearing rush hour, lots of traffic. We slowed down, I called 911 and we followed him until he swerved from inside lane to outside lane and onto an off ramp- where he ran into a car stopped at the light!! It was nuts. I bet he woke up pretty quick then!!

HI SHAR, i always call 911 when emergencies happen, sadly 911 in our area is not very much attentive like in other countries. they are slow due to limited in numbers . And even if there is no emergencies at all i still call 911 why? because my brother is working as a dispatcher for seven years already.

Yes, I've called them a few times. I had a woman staying with me that was sick and she needed an ambulance. I also got sick one time and had to call them. Turned out to be nothing.
