New Cigarette Tax

Right now I am filled with righteous indignation over the huge tax that has been levied on cigarettes!
I'm well aware that smokers are constantly maligned in our society, but it is just unfair to be targeted in such a manner. No other consumers of any product would stand still for such high-handed actions. Well, I, for one, am not afraid to speak out about this because I would feel the same even if I were not a smoker. Oh, and let us not forget the constant whining of the Post Office who keep raising the price of stamps! Our society has devolved into something that is no longer a democracy, but a "Let's stick it to the little people" nation. I feel so much better for having spoken my mind! Do you ever just feel the need to have a good rant?

Yep I do at times feel the need to rant and I feel that the smokers who have chosen to smoke shouldn't be penalize by the state or federal government...

Oh yes! And I agree with you on the cig. tax. It is so unfair. They claim that they are hoping it will cause people to quit. They also know that while some will...most will not and for some reason, the kids are still managing to start up. They are targeting and preying on us addicts for monetary gain. If we all actually did up and quit, they'd just have to do something different now wouldn't they? I have been cutting back and hoping to eventually just quit.

I am trying hard to quit myself, sid, but it is a lifelong habit with me. You are right, of course. The government would lose the revenue from one of its most lucrative schemes were all smokers to up and quit.

i think it so stuipd because the goverment said they want to get everyone to give up smoking, its our choice. whats next they are going to tell us who to marry, and what reglion to be ? so stuipd
