A few months ago I saw that Paula Dean had her own line of cookware out! How exciting! I love Paula Dean, and so desperatly wanted this cookware. Of course it's a bit pricy, and not something I NEEDED at the time, so I had to put it off.
I told my husband about the cookware, and he told me I should get at least one piece of I want it that bad, but again, I did the sensable thing and put it out of my head. I didn't NEED any cookware at the time!
Well, last night hubby goes to make grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. He was using our non stick frying pan to make them... but all the non stick stuff had long been worn off the pan. The pan was honestly on it's last legs, but we'd still been using it.
So hubby tries to make a couple sandwiches in this pan, and ends up ruining them because the pan is in such terrible shape. Hubby gets angry and ends up throwing the pan into the trash.
Well that was the only large pan we had, and I used it for everything from browning meat to cooking eggs and bacon! So I had to replace it!
So I just got back from the store when I purchased my first piece of Paula Dean cookware! A 5qt ceramic frying pan! I really wanted the 12 inch saute pan too... but needed the deep one for the things I cook. Maybe next weekend I'll get the saute pan!
When was the last time you splurged and got a more expensive version of something you needed just because you liked the name on it? Would you have splurged and gotten it anyways even if you didn't need it? What is something you can't help but to splurge on?

I don't splurge very often. I got a new toffee pot a few weeks ago and I really liked it, so I bought a smaller one of the same brand for cooking rice at home. I really needed a good rice pot, but again it is not something I HAD to have. I love it too. It was on sale which made it even better.
So, test put that puppy and let me know how it is. I was looking at them too, but I could not justify spending that much at the time.

I don't have any special rice pot. Actually I tend to microwave my rice in my microwavable veggie steamer. I need a new one of those anyways, but I haven't been able to find any in months! I think the store stopped carrying them! Pity, cuz I love this thing, I use it every single day.

I am like you. I have to justify spending money. I still feel guilty about buying 4 dresses when I went up to see my daughter. I am happy that you got the pan you wanted and it sounds great. so I am also happy that your husband got mad and threw it away. No, I really don't buy things that I don't need (normally) and if I do - thne I feel guilty. I really wish that I wasn't like this but I am. When you are in farming iot is either feast or famine. when it was the feast time and my husband splurged he said that I wasn't fun to spend money with as I was always justifying what I had bought! Blessings
