How do you clean your washing machine & how often?

I clean mine whenever I see that it's looking grubby. I pull out the linf filter & scrub with a toothbrush & I scrub the tube it connects to & the fabric softener part too. Are there any ways you can clean it where you can't reach? I have tried doing a cycle with just bleach but that doesn't work as well as I thought. How do you clean your washing machine?

My washer says to clean it only with bleach on the clean washer cycle. It is fairly new still, but I try to clean it once a month at least. I will admit though that I don't always do it as I want to. I have been tempted to buy the special washer cleaners, but I think that they would damegae my washer because of the specific "clean with bleach only" instructions.

I have tried just bleach on mine & it doesn't work as well as I'd like it to...but if I had your machine, I would stick to the instructions until after the warranty.

my mother tend to clean our washing machine after everytime she used it. she wont let any detergent or bubbles stained on the washing machine. thats the reason why it still looks like new and it function really well even though its been 7 yrs ago since they bought it..

I clean my washing machine, every week. I use a sponge to grub the machine. I am only use detergen to clean it.

hehe... now that you mentioned it... I realized I've never really cleaned my washing machine.. haha.. Thanks for sharing,,... I guess I have to do that some time... ahaha

I live in an apartment and do not own a washer or dryer. I have to do my laundry at the laundry room here on site. I can tell ya right now that those things are not cleaned as often as they should be! I am a clean freak and sometimes wish I could clean them myself each time before using them! It drives me crazy! lol I cannot wait until I own my own home and can have my own washer and dryer. You'll be they'll be clean....haha

Ummm...well I have had my washer over 5 yrs now and I can honestly but maybe not so proudly say I have never cleaned out my washer. I do know that there is the lint trap and it should be cleaned out but I never have.
I am not even real sure where the lint trap is on this washing machine. The old one we had had it right when you opened the door but I don't see it on this one...maybe if I looked harder I would but I haven't as of yet. Now that I read this I will probably go search harder.

I never do that. I guess that I should. My washer is pretty new. I have only had it for about three and a half years. it is important that I like to have clean clothes but it just doesnt occur to me to wash the washer. I think that I should problably put cleaning the washer on my to do list. I think it is a task that needs to be done.
