Your number will increase for:
- the first response you give on any discussion
- the first comment you give on any discussion
- for every discussion you start after it receives the first response.
So if you go to one discussion and respond and leave a comment it will increase by 2 each time. If your responses and comments are quality and not just one liners then you will also earn from them.

This is great information!
I didn't know this. I wonder if you can tell us also how to make $1 everyday easily. When I first started on mylot, I could make this amount in no time. I was posting all the time and putting images on every post that I could. Now, I only can spend about an hour or two on each day and that's if I'm not working or playing World of Warcraft. I'm not concerned with the number next to my screen name, I just want to make about $20 to $30 each and every month. Is this possible to do? You seem like you are very educated about the workings of mylot.

I manage by just being active, having lots of fun and NOT thinking about earnings.
I start few discussions but I comment back to ALL those who respond and try to respond on their discussions too.
The less I think about earning the more it seems to increase 
Oh and I never add photos as I have none of my own and I want to avoid copyright problems.

Wishing you the Best in being able to get there. I know it is possible as I was able to set a goal once and achieved it before signing out for the night. The only thing is don't get yourself so burn out in here that you decide not to post here for a couple of days or so as well. I think the fastest way is to just go thru the discussions responding back to ones you are interested in and then go from there. It will happen if you let it. Wishing you the Best.

Quality and quantity combined will give you a decent pay.. But if you answer a discussion and then respond to someones response in a discussion you get a point for each also when you start a discussion and it's been answered then you get a point there. Remember you want to try and post quality along with quantity.

The only way to increase your number is to repond to as many discussion as you can in small time but with maintaining quality in that too.
Once you start a discussion you get it increased by 1 once you get at least one response to it.

There really isn't a fast way if you want to get paid :-p What I'm trying to say is that the number by your name is the number of posts you've had. If you go around and post short posts just to reach 200 the fastest, you may not get paid as much as if you take your time and post longer posts. Getting paid here is determined by the quality and length of your post.

Respond to as much discussions as possible including the ones on your home page, not just your friends discussions but everyone and in your interst section as well and do more discussions too.
