Have you turned your heater off for the year?

I turned our heater off yesterday because it looked like it was going to warm for a while. We had to turn it on Monday morning because it was cold that my son's lips were turning grey a little. Right now, it's 53 degrees. It's suppose to get a little bit warmer. There's a possibility we may have to turn the heater back on, if it gets too cold. We'll just have to play it by ear.

I had turned the heat way down because we had a warm week. But the last few days I've had it back on it was only 40's today. Mostly we need it at night because it is still getting fairly cold. Plus my daughter's room doesn't get as much heat because she is upstairs so I turn it on more for her so she doesn't freeze at night. I'm really hoping to turn it off for the season this weekend. Before you know it we will be turning the air on.

We have the downstairs heater shut off right now, but the heaters upstairs are still on low. It helps at night when it's still chilly out.

Yes we turned off our gas heaters because the weather is getting warmer here. The summer weathers is here and it is becoming hotter each day. I am feeling the need to drink more water otherwise i feel dehydrated.

The warmer it is, the more you'll need to drink. ;-)

Yeah, we can't do that yet. I live in Michigan and we're in that period where it m ight get warm, like 60 degrees but two days later, it's back in the 40s and 50s. Can't wait though, because our heating bills are enormous.

We just play it by ear. That's all you can really do.

I sure thought I had until three days of heavy rain brought a cool front through! Most of my place has tile floors so if the sun doesn't warm up the room it is freezing cold even when it's not really cold outside. I couldn't believe I had to turn on the heater the other day!

We have carpets in all but two rooms in our house. So the floors aren't a problem. However, our house is chillier than it is outside. This will be nice when it's blistering outside, but right now, we just have to deal.

That is the nice thing about the tile, when it gets warmer the rooms still stay cooler than they would otherwise. I have bamboo flooring in the bedroom and one of those window shades that doesn't let in light so it doesn't heat up too badly either.

We have been using our heater occasionaly because the weather has been so bizarre. Yesterday the sun was out and it was really windy. Our power actually went out for about 40 minutes, which is rare around here. Now today, it is SNOWING! And I'm on the west coast!! At least it's not sticking to the ground, which is a relief. It's pretty chilly in here right now so I plan on taking a hot shower and putting warm clothes on. Hate to turn my heater on unless I absolutely have to.

Hot showers are great no matter what time of the year you're in. The downstairs heater is turned off, but two of the three heaters upstairs are still on. They're on low.

I haven't yet turned ours off because even though we have had nicer days and I have been able to turn the heat down, I know that this colder weather isn't gone yet and I will still need to use our furnace. It seems like here that every year around fishing season we get another fair amount of snow and cold..so until that has come and gone I think my heat will stay on for a little bit yet. Although we have had a few days were it was in the mid 50's we still haven't gotten enough nice days to do much or really enjoy it. It seems like we have one day that turns out good and then the next is rainy and chilly. We even received snow just 2 days ago, and I am sure that that isn't the last of it. I will probably wait till the end of April to fully turn the furnace off just to be safe.

I can understand that, but I'm just trying to save us on electricity. Every little bit we don't use will save us in the end.

Well, it would be nice to be able to turn off the Heater here for the yr. and leave it off, but we are having Super Crazy weather here for sure. It is rainy and cold here, and even snowing in the passes about an hr. from here. So we have not been able to turn off our heater yet except for like one day I think. They are saying it might get nice by Sunday or Monday here, but we shall see.

The way the weather has been here I turn the heat off during the day but when the sun goes down I need to turn it back on again. During the day I even open the windows so fresh air gets in the house.

We either have it on or off. It takes a few hours for the house to warm up if we were to turn it on at night. It's not like it's a room-to-room thing...wish it was like that though.

We live in a fairly warm area of the country. While it does get cold, it is more likely to be warm. We haven't turned ours off because there are times at night when it gets really cold. I have however, turned it down to about 63 degrees. This keeps it at least warm enough that my two year old son doesn't get too cold. It is 58 degrees right now!

It's not officially off yet here either. I keep it down fairly low to my hubby's dismay. But no sense in paying for heat longer than necessary. But as long as he's at work or asleep I turn it down a few notches. I swear just because he lived in a desert for abt 2 yrs it must of really thinned out his blood.

We hadn't used the heater in over a month till two nights ago. The storm that went through here brought in a cold front and it gets really chilly in our house.

You must live further south than we do. I think the most we've had our heater turned off for this winter was a few days to maybe a week. I can't wait until we can turn it off permanantly until it's necessary to turn it on again.

It depends on my mood that day as to whether I want to turn the heater on. If I can barely stand the cold, then I turn the heater on. It also depends on my kids, and how they're doing.

No, not completely. Even though they are off during the day, I will still turn them on at night because it still gets a little too cold for my liking (as well as my husband and kids).

oh. it must have been pretty cold in your country. here in my country we usually use aircon cause we are in a tropical country. we dont' have to use heater as the weather here does not get too cold. sometimes we get a season where in it was really cold because of the wind coming from other countries when the snow from those countries is starting to melt like from china or korea. and so that affects our weather too. but it does not get too cold enough to make us use or buy a heater. cause mostly those cold weather just last for a week then it will be back to our normal hot weather. i don't like cold weather. cause i have not get used to it.

Hi CRSunrise, to be honest, I don't have a heater in my house. Not because it's warm here the whole year, but we have been used to chilling in the house in winter.LOL~~~ We do have an air-conditioner. It's working when the weather is hot. However I prefer to use a fan, for I'm an environmentalist.
