Two Panic attacks in a day What can I do to make them stop??

Ok I am starting to get extremely annoyed with these panic attacks I have been having these past couple weeks. Today I ended up having two. One while I was getting ready to cross the street. The other one was in the bank when I was doing important things. I thought I was going to just pass out and all my money was going to fall all over the floor. My heart started raising and I got dizzy. These are really starting to annoy me and scare me as well. I have not had problems with panic since being a teen. So now what do I do? Do you think I am going to get agrophobia and not want to leave the house? What would you do??

you need to first figure out what is triggering the attacks. second you need to go see your doctor. even some xanax to help calm you will help while you try and work through this. you are probably under a lot of stress, who isn't right? but people who are prone to anxiety attacks should be extra careful to watch the stress build up in their life. it is not realistic to get rid of everything that makes you stressed but you need to learn how to get better at dealing with it. don't think that you will become agoraphobic, you can jump in right now and start working on the problem. i agree that it is annoying to deal with but you have recognized it so that is the first step. good luck

As a therapist, I would say that as you are having such frequent attacks, it would be best if you consult with a therapist or counsellor and also visit your doctor for a medical check, perhaps having blood-tests etc. to rule out any physical problem. Although attacks can seem to come without reason, there is usually something buried in the subconscious that will trigger them. For example, a similar situation to when your happiness or safety was threatened that has been repressed. I have even had clients who have found the roots of their problems went back to a time when they weren't even conscious - during the time of a medical operation. Although the person is unconscious, it is thought that the words of the theater staff are picked up by the subconscious mind and can be translated in literal and weird ways. I always support and encourage my clients not to give in to the fear, but to do the opposite to fighting it, and let it come, relaxing into the symptoms. Many people find that if they stop going out of their homes, it isn't long before they are just as frightened about not going out. One client I had felt she couldn't even come with me to her front garden gate. With some encouragement, she did though, and very soon was going back out and even driving her car again. We all have a choice and at the end of the day nobody can make you do what you don't want to, but I think you will need the help and support of a good therapist that would best come by recommendations of others who have consulted with that therapist. It is important to feel comfortable and trust a therapist. Good luck and I hope you manage to sort this problem out. It doesn't have to control your life unless you let it. - Derek

Years ago I used to get panic attacked and they seem to appear roughly about the same time almost every day. I went to the doctor and found out I was hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and the panic attacks seemed to have hit me when my sugar dropped. Once this was under control my panic attacks went away.

Do you remember how you overcame your anxiety as a teen? Some suggested you call a doctor, that's good advice. There are also lots of books on axiety and info online. I just went through an anxiety program with my son. They helped him to learn how to break down his fears and look at the logic the dispell some of his fears. It was a 14 week program, so he learned a lot of tips to help him deal with his fears.

I know what you are going through. I've lived it many times. You need to go to the doctor's. If you are getting them that often then it's probably going to get worse unless you get help.

You seriously need to make an appointment with a doctor. An occasional panic attack is one thing, but 2 in one day is serious.

If a panic attack happens, keep telling yourself you would be fine after few minutes. It really works! Just as the panic attacks happened to you, you know you are fine now, panic attacks don't actually hurt you a lot, but I know you feel upset that it affects your daily life so much, all you should do is to believe that would hurt you a bit, emotionally you think panic attacks hurt you so much, but you now still can write and can talk and can have fun. I really enjoy my life very much now, I can overcome the panic attacks which happened a lot long time ago, I know it only affects me emotionally.

Hey relax, you need to see a good doc asap. These things can get out of control. I know this coz my hubby suffers from anxiety attacks and it cna happen anywhere, anytime. And only after consultation would you be able to pin down the reasons or things that trigger them, this is very important. You need to get this checked without any delay...look at the brighter side you have so many people who could shre their experience with you and understand your situation.
