I have heard mixed reaction from the people and still I get mixed reactions about the Oscar presented to the movie 'Slumdog millionaire!' Frankly speaking when seen the movie for the first time when it never bagged the Oscar I never had any impact of the movie either on my brain or on my heart! It was fine one of those art type of movie where typical Indian Poverty is exhibited! Even now I am not really convinced and impressed why this movie has attracted the jury so much that it has made a clean sweep of 8 out of 11 awards! I don't want to hurt any one's feelings but may I know what makes this movie so special or stand apart from others ? Please respond! Thanks !

I think the movie is a really deserving recipient of that award, because personally I think Slumdog Millionaire is a great movie - very refreshing, very relevant, and very moving.

Thee are thousand like that movie or better than "Slum Dog" if you are after refreshment. If you want to prove the stand of your say please do elaborate saying like the direction, character choice and so and so forth. Mere saying it was a great movie would not suffice and I am sorry to say that there is nothing in the film. No body has ever jumped down from a running train to have a glimpse of legendary Actor Amitabh Bachhan.

Well I'm very sure you are an Indian, and you guys don't like the movie because it tells a lot about the reality in Indian society today.

The story of the movie is special and really original. I have seen many movies many having same or almost same stories. But this movie is really having a unique story and the progress of the movie is really really special. I respest the decision of giving so many oscars to this movie. This movie really deserves it. Hats off!

HI Ankana! What do you mean by specially original? Are there things specially duplicate or specially non - original? Ok, accepted that the film had a new theme but why India? Were not there other countries where similar things could have been taken? And why you needed to call a nation "Dog"? You could refer as 'Slum boy' or something like. What new thing you you get in the Rahman numbers? Are the best ones to fetch Oscar? And hilariously a Hindi number gets Academy award in an apparently mainstream English movie. When you say something there should be some logic and strong point. I hope I have not hurt you.

Being an Indian myself, I must say that I am equally bewildered as to how this movie came to win so many Oscars! There have been many many Indian movies of this type which were made in India and wholly by Indians themselves on shoestring budget and never had any international recognition. Poverty and slums exist everywhere and there are many a tales of heroism which people have shown in overcoming negative circumstances and children too…so what was so special about this particular movie? I have taken this recognition with a pinch of salt really, ideally I am proud of Rahman for this music and the composer of the song Jai Ho is of course my favourite Gulzar…so only those two Oscars are Ok for me…the rest I do not understand at all!

I just watched that movie this morning. It was ok, but I don't think it was Oscar material. Took me a while to get interested in the story because I wasn't really sure what was going on at first. It did get more interesting later and certainly had a very happy ending, but was not the best film I have ever seen. Loved the dance at the end though.

To be very frank the "Slum dog.." is nothing but an attempt by the rich and white to demean the non white people. Look at the theme. What is new there? Any slum swelling boy and girl given the opportunity as they have been would come up to any level. It would be a fallacy to draw a line that all the poor people are less intelligent and thus fool. Besides why India? There are much poor counties. The director Boyal could go to any of the civil torn African country and could pick up similar character from among the refugee Camps and it would serve some purpose too. Now where is not poverty. Even in the developed countries like the USA there are poor people. And what is the point of AR Rahman getting Oscar whereas the film was in the mainstream category and not in the foreign one? If you are so keen on Hindi number what did not give or throw one at "Lagan'? They would not for the white are projected as the villain here in India. And their masterly attitude is not changes as yet. I personally hate this hypocrisies. And had I been AR Rahman I would not accept the awards.

In my opinion ,it should be an very excellent movie I'd even seen. The director used a very smart way to express the reality that exists in some corners of the world. In addition,I don't think the result of Oscar awards is sure to mean fair or authority.Don't take it seriously.I have to say it again,"Slumdog Milionaire"is worth seeing absolutely.

Hi Jerrydzy! Could you kindly tell me the "excellent" part of the movie that you termed on the "Slum Dog''? Is such reality there is India only? Is not there in your country? Why just refer as some corners of the world. Go to the African Nation. Come to the Indian sub continent. I say the Oscar was given only because it was a slur on the Indian people and India is demanding permanent seat in the Us Security Council. Please apply yourself before putting your comment dear.

i havent watch it actually, but based on the reviews and synopsis i have read, i think the Curious Case... would have been a better winner. i mean the story of slumdog is common and plain.. too positive and simple to make you go gaga. the story i guess to predictable. well of course, i havent seen it really to decide...
