Most of us will work hard to get more money for our family but sometime its seems like what we have got from our work is like not enough for our family. everyone in our family have their needs and we need to fulfill their needs as we are the only one who work in our family. Everytime we got our salary there is no money we can get from it for our savings. Does there is a way to make sure we have somthing for our saving?

I think the best way of doing it is to adjust the needs to the possibilities. In my family it is only me making the money, but before we moved to this new country I investigated the prices here, and the other costs of living, and what is the worst case scenario I can end up here with my family. Than we set together with the family and made precalculations, and agreed on that we will first concentrate on cleaning out all debts, no luxury spending, if there is two type of milk in the store, we try both than if they are both good we'll buy the cheaper. etc etc. Also we start as everymonth from all the income some is put aside as in case of emergency, this money is saving up pretty fine. So all I could recommend is if the needs cannot be met, everyone has to lower their needs.

Yeah,I strongly agree with you, aladar. In the past two years my girl friend and I have a bad finance condition;you know,my girl friend had to pay her tuition and our money was limited. We saved every possible daily output, and we did not eat expensive food, and we chose cheap clothes.Foutunately, the hard time passed at last and now our salary is much better.Well,at least it is better than the past.

This is a good topic and I belong into this kind of situation. I worked hard to earn money and pay all the bills. Most of the times aside from not having a savings I can't even buy money for myself. My money will be enough for our basic needs. So, difficult since even if how hard I tried to cut expenses seems still I am out of money.

Make special account for saving. Every month after you get salary, transfers amount of money to this account. Important thing that you must remember, don't make ATM card to this account. This is a kind a preventation againts taking money for un urgent things. Don't go often to supermarket. At my experience, whenever I go to supermarket, I always buy something that i don't need, but i buy it because i think i will need it or because i just want it.

There is a simple solution to this problem. Ask your bank to move some of your salary into special fixed deposit account. Almost all the banks offer this facility. Only drawback is once you fix the cutoff date for moving the money fro savings account into Fixed deposit account , you should stick to it irrespective of whether you received your salary or not. Even in such extreme case you can negotiate with your bank.

Well I'm not the sole money earner around here, and right now it's difficult for us to save...but we're hoping to. It'll probably take alot of determination to set aside money, to say "this is off limits" but it's not like we buy alot of unecessary things.Necessities mostly. We manage -- I can't reeally say that our methods are more than that.

I think it is just a fact that after bills and buying groceries and other household necessities that for a lot of people there isn't that much money left over. All anyone can do is try their best. My husbands is the only income that we have as I'm a stay at home mom, so I do work on the net and make a little extra for us. It does help some. I also belong to a few sites that I trade my read books in for DVD's and other household items. I belong to one that I get gift certificates for shopping places. When I can use the gift certificate that gives us a little extra cash for that week. I keep all the bills paid thou no matter what before we even try to save. Bills come first, groceries, and then savings. Needless to say there isn't a lot in savings.

that's what i think in my mind here...bills come first, then groceries, etc and finally is savings..thats why i cant save up my money for saving as it always been spend for other things first...if i have money for savings, it would be a little amount of money...

Since iam the breadwinner of the family, and the only one who works for my family, all of my earnings were divided to electric bills and water bills, my siblings allowance, and groceries; good thing that we don't have to pay a rent for our home because my parents have bought the land were our house is built. I'd even try to have one more job so that i could still save some for my self. We have to save some from our earnings for ourselves, so can still buy our needs, like clothes and personal things.

Cutting back on expenses wherever possible helps. There's a lot of sites out there that will give you information on ways to save that are hard to believe, but still possible. Well I can't say still possible, but they seem to be tried and true. My fiance and I are saving for our future because the economy is so uncertain. We (neither) don't have a job right now so what we make online is what we put in our pockets. Surprisingly it's a lot of savings, even though we're spending for our wedding. Again, just look at sites. stretcher.com is a good site that another member of mylot recommended to me. Penny Pinchin Grandma is a good site although I don't know the url. Consignment shops can be a little bit of money makers.

A lot has to do with recognizing wants and needs. Take care of the needs and cut back on the wants. $60 for new pair of shoes is not a need. New shoes may be needed, but they can be found cheaper. Using less also helps. Instead of buying paper towels, keep rags or washcloths around the house and use them instead. Use old newspaper to clean windows rather than paper towels. Things like that add up over time.

i think that is a creative idea..it make sense to me..using everything that we can use for our daily needs without buying new one..its a good idea..

Hmm..I can relate to this topic. The primary reason why I work hard is my family. Most of my earnings goes to my parents but I still manage to save something for myself. If you want to save money even if you are giving most of your earnings to your family, you should be a wise spender. I am an impulsive buyer that's basically the reason why I still manage to save money.

I hate to say it but we are one of those families that lives pay check to pay check. I need to make a family budget. It would be better if I was putting some of this money into a savings account.

The ideal way is to save first before spending and not spending and saving whats left of your salary and the reality is nothing's left after all the bills are paid and everything. At home, we all contribute like my brothers are in charge in paying the telephone and internet bills and the cable for the tv, while my dad takes care of the light and water. We take turns sometimes in paying for the bills and each contribute for the groceries. At home we have a unique set up because we are an extended family even before I was born. My Mom passed away and we still continue the tradition like taking in relatives who cant afford and chipping in for their college education and everything and in return help in whatever they can in the house. And we talk about saving electricity and water and everything we can and really do it.

It is very difficult to manage the expenses of the family at time of critical times. I have tried hard to cut my expenses which can be avoided and save some money out of it. But with raising expenses for all the items in the market, it is very difficult to cope with expenses with same level of salary. But have to manage! That's where we need to innovative at every expenditure we do and save more and more money for difficult times.
