I am thinking of getting these to hang from my porch. I plan on growing a lot of vegtables to supplement our food. Does anyone have one of these and if so do they work?

I was actually wondering about this myself. I think it is a great idea and I am thinking of getting one to put in my back patio area. Let me know if you get one and how it works. I tell you we eat a lot of tomatoes and anything to supplement our food helps. I am growing my own fresh basil now and it is great! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I see that Amazon has them for about $14. I saw the idea years ago on a gardening show. They took a plastic bucket and put a hole in the bottom and stuck the tomato plant in it then hung it upside down. The whole concept looks like it would work. I have some big plastic jars that I'm thinking about using along with a couple of shepards crooks I got from Big Lots a couple of years ago.

I have heard of them, but I have never used one. Last summer I grew tomatoes in the garden, but I don't live there anymore. I have some room in the yard for a small garden though, so I might plant some outside this year too. I want to plant tomatoes, onions, and Jalapenos to make some fresh salsa.

Its funny, by your responses every one is interested in them but not purchasing them... my guess it is due to the economy....either they will grow them the conventional way or try to make there own topsy turvy. My hubby and I have seen the commercials and want to get it, but with money being tight he looked it up online and found a way to do them ourselves....we always plant our tomato plants in regular pots but this year we are going to try them with our own homemade topsy turvy. But I love the concept of it!!!!!

I dont have one but I too was looking into getting one. I want to get one for my son, he loves the outdoors stuff...bugs, plants, animals, etc. & I think he would like it. I hear they work pretty good, I have a neighbor that has one and it seems to grow fairly easy & nicely. The only problem is only 1 of us eats tomatoes...lol. Oh well, it will be fun I suppose for my son & thats about all that matters.

I'm thinking about getting one also, but I'm not sure I have a place to hang it, do you know how many feet it takes to keep it off the ground?

I just read that someone planted a tomato plant upside down. I wonder if that would work. I wonder which variety of tomato they use for this one?
