Live within your budget?

This actually reminds me not to use credit cards a lot. I used to use my card a lot for various transactions, buy clothes, new shoes, new make ups, fashion accessories, lingeries and a lot more. I didnt use much of the credit balance to my groceries and appliances. Credit card is good just when you know how to limit the use and do it with transactions that is really needed for everyday life, not just for luxury things. there are so many regrets that i have now because i didnt use credit cards well, i wish i just bought laptop before using credit card and not loads of make up. if i bought a laptop i can use this and its considered an "asset". How bout you, do you live within your budget?

Yeath,I live within my budget. As a college student, I must learn how to balance it,which will be useful to my future life.I think it is wise to know whether something that we decide to buy is really needed and whether we can afford it.Then,we may keep the budget balance.

Slow down using credit cards. if someone can use cash, then why not right? no interest and finance charges at all if all are made thru cash transactions. Thank you for replying. smile always!

I have to admit that I don't. in fact with a car and housing loan and with the credit cards debts, i would say that I use more than I earn every now and then. I really hope i can cut down on that and control more on my spending. It's always a good practice to live within the means.

Yes, for most of time, I can live within my budget. However, because of the economic decrease, I find it is hard to do this. The price of the food is going up. The salary we get is becoming less. So this really makes me nervous. I use credit card before a lot. Now I am paying attention to this. I am trying to stop use it in this way in order to save money.

I share the same sentiment as almost everyone who have replied to your post. I used to have several credit cards that tempted me to shop a lot and buy things that I don't really need. I had to deal with several colleciton agencies when I lost my job and little by little, with their amnesty programs, I was able to rebuild my credit score. I have now been issued 3 new credit cards and have been controlling my expenses but you know how it is when you have a plastic card in your purse and you really want something badly, you'll end up doing the same mistake twice. I am slowly paying off my debt once again. I can only share this to everyone with the same problem. Get a debit card instead that carries a visa or mastercard logo. You can have it swiped as well but you can only spend the money that you already have and not one that you are still yet to earn. Life is very unpredictable so don't budget the money that you don't have in your hands yet.

Being in college and working part-time trying to reach full-time status, I kind of have to live within my budget...but my main problems are not saving and spedning too much on discretionary items such as morning breakfast, lunch, and general eating out... I did have a credit card but was a moron with it - all spending like a kid with food and stuff for myself and no real savings and having it ready for an emergency... I am just now starting to use a money chart/planner and track where every dollar goes and I am *trying* not to eat out as much and do a lot more grocery shopping...

we do not use credit cards now because we once got burned. i think credit cards are not a bad thing, you just have to know how to use it. what you need to do is save up your money and buy what you want. credit is too easy!

I guess I am pretty much forced to live within my budget. When I landed in my job, I was only after of the free review that they gave to staffs, but aside from that they decided to also give me a salary. It's quite small but it's better than nothing. Lately, a lot of financial problems have come up and my salary's but enough to address these concerns. I am grateful that they still gave me something no matter how small at least the necessities can be afforded. However, when we speak of luxurious stuffs, I haven't even bought myself a new shirt in years! My pants are starting to fade and thin out between the thighs. *sigh

Living within a budget is very essential especially during this time of global economic crisis and therefore I just avoid the use of credit cards and spend on hard cash, this way you notice that you have gone beyond your budget and limit yourself.

We are trying to pay off our debts. That is an important move for us. We are also refinancing our home and car for a lower intrest rate. My husband tries to keep money in the bank at all times. We shop at thrift stores, garage sales, and walmart for better deals. We are always bargain shopping. We try to live within our budget.

I think if we use credit card well then there is no problem with credit card. I am also having problems with credit cards. I also buys groceries and lots of things with the credit card. I think I should try to close the credit card as soon as possible because most times the interest in credit cards if not paid at the current time is very high and this will lead to more debts. I am now a days working very hard to earn some extra money and also to pay most of my bills.

iamsolucky, Like you I do agree here that all of us should live within our own budget and means. There's nothing to gain when we overdo and most of all over spend our hard earned money. It will even bring us dire consequences and unnecessary anxieties. As for me, I would always make it a point to delay my purchases for clothings, footwears and even groceries as well. This delay most of times bring a lot of benefits where one of them being able to buy things when they are on reduced sale prices. Lots of savings and gives more value to the dollar. I do charge my purchases on the card and I always make it a point to keep tabs of the receipts so that I do not overspend on my budget and limits. Besides, there are rewards like loyalty discounts at the end of the month for our purchases, waiver of annual fees for the card and even cash paybacks for our expenses on the card. So, at the end of the day I have a hassle free and value added shopping. Cheers.

There are times that I am glad I don't have a credit card and being an impulsive buyer myself, that's another reason for me to celebrate my credit card free life. there are of course other instances that I find credit usage convenient, just like when my nephew booked for a flight coming to my place, i find it hard to get one for him because i don't have one. So what I did is to ask a favor from a friend to purchase the ticket online and pay it directly to him.
