In India lot's of people chew pan, gutka, tumbaku etc.. tobbaco related products. Up to this it is OK they are wasting their money & damaging their own body, but when they chew these things they have to spit a lot. They make our city dirty. What punishment should be given to them ?

Friend iam too from India and if any body spitting on road no body question to him/her.All are busy in there work and no body is ready to guide that man that it makes city dirty and even police is not taking actions. So,if we want to keep our city clean then we have to catch the person and handle it to the police and i think police should impose fine of up to $2 = 100 rupees. "As India is democratic country other than fine we cannot punish the person,it is not written in constitution that spitting on roads is a crime"

i am agree that spitting in public places and anywhere should include to the crime list of city ordinance to lessen those people who do spitting in anywhere, and i think its nice when the penalty is like in jaywalking, first offense will pay then second offense will pay again of high amount of money then the third offense should file a case.

Spitting is really inappropriate to do in public. Those who spit on the streets should be punished by letting them clean up the mess they made for them to have etiquette and to respect people and the surroundings. If they are not ashamed to spit publicly then they should be more eager to clean it up. Let's all contribute in making our planet a better place.

Let's see. How about cleaning the stuff from the road/ That would be cool, isn't it? That way they will have to clean those dirty stuff and that too infront of live public. Embarrassing, isn't it?

Hi, Either Clean the mess or 'be cuckoo'in Public place for 2 hours & fine. Hard punishment will set precedence.Others will be afraid to make our own motherland dirty. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.

I am a Chinese and in my home city Guangzhou, many people spit all the time and makes the street so dirty. when walking down the street, you can easily find a lot of phlegm and saliva. it is so disgusting. I am ashamed of being the citizen here. Ironically, Guangzhou is name one of the cleanness cities in China. I don't know if there are any laws against spitting, but at least the government rarely enforce it. I have never seen anyone were fined for spitting. I think spitting should at least be fined 50 rmb (about 8 us dollar) and have that person clean up the spit.

The way I see it, there are two choices. #1 rip out their tongue. #2 let it go, there are plenty of other things to worry about!

Unless harsh punishments are not enforced people will continue to spit and do other things as well. What can you say about people Urinating around the walls of the bus stop. Can't they pay 1 Rs(2cents) and do that job in the public toilets.A lot of things should be done in India.Even in metros like Bangalore,I have seen people urinating the walls of the Kempegowda Bus Station. If people in metros do such thing, what will the people from the rural places do.

In china, you will be punished for spitting, a forfeit for 50 yuan. I think this is a way to slove this problem. fuch
