Hi myLotters, nowadays we prefer to type or scribble in wordpad or microsoft word than write by hand..That day i saw my 7 year old niece typing at a very high speed but her handwriting is very poor and she writes pretty slowly.... So,do you think typing is killing the art of writing???? And which one do you prefer???

I used to like writing better than typing but now I find it so much easier and faster to type. By typing though, we've lost the art of creating and forming perfect letters and nice penmanship. I'm going to show my age here, but when I was in school, we were graded on the information we supplied as well as the appearance of our papers and our handwriting. Now, the most a teacher can say is how well "formatted" the paper is. It just isn't the same.

I prefer to write. Though my handwriting is not that good, but gives a personal touch to the writting which is not there in typing. But then we can not deny the fact of importance of the typing, can we?

Yes,Friend i agree with you that typing on computer and type writer is killing the art of writing. I am a webmaster and i type with very high speed but my hand writing is not at all good. I think in today world all companies consider only typing not hand writing so i am not learning to write in arty ways

I like to type more than writing because I think it is faster. I also have good handwriting and still take my class notes by hand.I do write pretty quickly. At least compared to my other classmates I do. I type my notes when I am finished. This way, I will remember the info better. I do have to say that I think typing is taking away from the art of writing. I think that children's handwriting has gotten worse. I also think that has something to do with which school district they are in. A lot of elementary schools still have children hand write most of their work so they are still able to have decent handwriting.

Well, definitely I prefer for a typing in the computers. In such cases all people in the word love to used in a computer. Thats why it doesn't matter to write in a paper but it is basically to type in the computer. It can use both our hands and the other one is to write in the paper used in one hand.Actually, computers is part of the subjects when you school, thats why it is important for us to know how to type and used in the computers.

I would still prefer our own custom font whenever we write. Our hand writing is quite unique and its ours to say it as part of our identity. Whenever you get hand written letters, it feels more special as the person who sent that mail had actual contact with the letter so in some way or another, you did have contact with that person even if he or she is far away. Reading email isn't bad as well but, well, I guess its a matter of choice in the end. I think typing isn't gonna kill writing as we still do things the usual way like signing contracts for approvals and the like. I honestly don't write very clearly as I often am the only one who could understand my own hand writing. (^_^") If computers weren't around, or any technological gadget weren't around, I guess we'd go back to hand writing again..

I like typing in computer because it can easily erase by using backspace if you want to change anything unlike in writing it looks untidy if you erase.

I like to write and type. Typing on microsoft word is faster and able to save the piece of work for reuse. In the office environment, it's impossible to survive a day without any typing on the computer. Most of the times are spent replying email and drafting letters. The letter templates are pretty standard and just got to change a few words here and there. Some of my colleagues showed the ways things are done on manual typewriter and carbon papers. Can't imagine using that to do work. Writing is good when in a meeting or holiday. Sometimes writing a short sentence in a note pad to remind colleagues to do something or to praise colleagues for some smart remarks is more human way than to send by email. Anyway, school examinations still in the form of hand-written tests format. Computer is not likely to take over as the main format of examination.

since most people nowadays prefers the eco-friendly ways, MSWORD will earn more appreciation and can save the millions of trees from being cut down. also by typing in MSWORD, i can instantly check the spelling without looking for the heavy dictionary, you can do simultaneous typing/editing on the WORD, and open as many files you want..The evolution of writing is typing. i think we're now in the "typing age".

If for example a hmwk needed to be handed in and i had the option to write or type. i would always type, its just faster for me. But if it was manditory to write, i would have no trouble with that.

i think that it just comes with time. i am a very fast typer. i also grew up with the generation that computers became demaded. now that all most every one has a computer their kids will use them more and more. that is how you find younger children using a computer better than some older adults.

Even I find my hand writing to have become really very bad, since I too have to do a lot of typing work rather than writing! These days, all manual work is being replaced by computers. So, typing is slowly taking over the writing, let it be the change from writing letters to typing mails or by filling forms to keying in form details, all is being replaced by typing. As far as I am concerned, I prefer typing rather than writing.

I like writing better than typing, but spending my time in front of the computer longer than spending my time with pen and paper makes me better at typing than at writing. I always spare some times to write in a book though. I have a book for me to write about anything, and I think it is the only way I practice my handwriting
