Can I ask you guys a question?......Why

I am personally not afraid of any of them haha but I did not know that. I know some people who absolutely HATE rats. But they are such darlings haha. $-MrDollars-$

Hiya Linda, Squirrels are so much nicer to look at much more playful and fun to watch sometimes. A Rat might have it´s place in the World but not in my House thank you very much. Rats make me squirm, they give me the shudders. One time I encountered a very big Rat in the Doorway of our House and it would not budge it just sat there staring at me with those eyes of his. Finally the neighbour came down as I could not get in and finished it off for me. Actually I did not dream for one minute that she was going to kill it. She killed it with her Shoe so you can imagine that she has done this quite a few times in her life. Maybe to protect her Children where they lived before. I thanked her very much however I did not want the Rat to die I just wanted it to move over so I could get in. However the Rat was not giving me very good looks at all and the Woman assured me that it would have bit me and my Child. So I took her wisdom as she was much braver than me and knew what she was on about. By the way I love Otters too the ones that play in the River they are so funny to watch.

I love squirrels and hate mice and rats. I don't know why exactly, I guess b/c squirrels for the most part stay outside where mice and rats tend to fight to get inside and then get into everything. I also think squirrels are cute and rats are scary looking. [b]~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**[/b]

i guess rats can or will attack people, and most of the time they are nasty places then the tree rats. yeah that what i call them tree rats

I will be agreeing with the person that said, we are more afraid of the disease we believe rats to be carrying, along with the fact that squirrels will run from us. Rats are accustomed to living in co-habitation of a sorts with humans for a long time, and are not as timid as their forest "cousins"

I fear rats because they are icky and scary. They are filled with diseases and so annoying. I really dislike them. Squirrels don't scare me as much. They also don't trespass in my home and get into everything.

I feel the same about both. They are fine at my neighbors but not at my house! They are equally dangerous.

Squirrels live outside of the house as a general rule (they can get in the attic) whereas rats tend to live inside of the house. Rats can ruin the inside of the house with their teeth and even bite you. Rats are dangerous, whereas squirrels will try to stay away from you. That is why people are afraid of rats and not squirrels.

the squirrel is also the cousin of the rabbit. they are all rodents along with hamsters, mice or gerbils. a rat is a rat. like a human is a human, not it's cousin the chimp. besides, i like rats. very intelligent and clean....sadly like pigs their envioroment makes them appear dirty.

Hi Linda! I think you are right! It is the bushy tail that makes the squirrel a bit easier to deal with because they just look cuter! You think of them as a sweeter and cuter and more cuddlier critter! They just don't have that mean, creepy look like rats do! And I guess that's why people forget so easisly that they are related to the rat! They do look very different because of the tail and all that extra fur and their cute little faces! But, I know we shouldn't be fooled!

I fear both! I get freaked out on both squirrels and rats, because they are just little creatures that would scare the hell out of me if they jumped on me or anything. Squirrels look just like rats to me. I did not know that they are cousins, that is probably why they are look-alikes! Well atleast to me it would seem that way.

For me, i like rats and mice, they look just like hamsters. I think people are actually scared of the germs or bacteria on the rats and mice.

Because rats look so disgusting unlike squirrels - very cute! hehe! And the mere fact that rats can give you illness. Happy MyLotting!

wow, i never actually knew that lol thanks for the information, its like the saying goes you learning something new everyday :) im not too bothered about rats and don't really have a fear of them at all like other girls do, they remind me of hamsters really but much bigger and with a long tail, although hamsters are much much cuter than rats. Its so weird to think squirrels are cousins to rats, i never would have thought that to be honest lol.

I guess because squirrels are cute and not ugly and sneaky looking like rats, and I think rats have a reputation of being dirty and with disease and they are just so horrible...

I think that it has more to do with rats comming into the home while squirrels stay outside for the most part. I know that I prefer animals outside unless I invite them in.
