If your diabetic you need to get your kdneys checked.

Until recently when my mother experienced her latest hospital visit I had no idea how common it is for diabetics to develop kidney disease. Unfortunately Diabetes can lead to many other types of illnesses. Accrounding to the kidney foundation I researched for an article it stated that 30% of Type 1's and 10-40% of type 2's develop kidney disease. Once your kidney function falls into the 10-15% range you are in kidney failure which treatment includes transplatation and dialysis.
So it is important that you include this in your yearly checks at the doctor's office if you are diabetic.

I have been type-1 diabetic for over 20 years, diabetee's is a disease that has alot of complications,
tho if you manage your diabetee's then the risks are minimal, I dont let diabetee's control my life and so far have had no complications.
Also here in the uk we have diabetic centres where we attend once every 6 mths or so.
Personally being a diabetic for over 20 years think you have more chance of developing kidney issues if you drink too much than from diabetee's itself aslong as you control the condition which is pretty easy to do.
Once you know how.

Oh i should have added, my mother is the type that is very hard to control and not on her part. You are correct most can control the effects of the disease by monitoring blood sugar and following a healthy diet. But there are some in spite of following medical orders still become a victim of the disease.

If U r a diabetic(type1 or 2),get Ur Kidney function checked(alongwith Retina(eye),Nerves)atleast once in a Year.

My husband id diabetic and he controlls it with diet, and a pill. His doctor recently perscribed to him a pill that helps protect the kidney, after some research I found out that it is common for this medicine to be combined with the blood sugar medicine in one pill.
