My son brought a letter home from school on Friday that said there are cases of Whooping cough at his school. He brought home the same paper a month ago as well. He did not have any symptoms the first time, but this time he has a horrible cough, his nose is stuffy(I was thinking it was just his allergies till the cough showed up) and his throat is really red.
Have your kids ever had Whooping cough before? How bad is it? How did you know that is what they had and not just a regular cold? What made you bring them in?

You will know that it is whooping cough when your son gives a pecuiliar whoop when coughing. I am so sorry. Has he been vaccinated agianst this? It can be dangerous. Rachel had it as I had delayed her vacination schedule (she was premature) and one of my sons passed it on but he didn't get it as he was vaccinated. DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY AS THE YOUNGER THE CHILDREN ARE THE MORE PROBLEMS THERE COULD BE AND YOU HAVE YOUR DAUGHTER TO CONSIDER. If he does have it then she will get it too. I am so sorry for you. He needs medical attention right away to determine if he does have it so treatment can begin immediately. do not delay on this one my friend. Get help now. I pray that all will be well and that he doesn't have it.

Is it known by any other name? Whooping cough sounds like something that was flushed out in the 1950s or something. Maybe it just sounds like an old fashioned name for an illness. What do I know? Nothing! No, I've never had whooping cough, and when I was in school we never had to take notes home to warn our parents. At least not about whooping cough. We had notes sent home with us informing out parents that a child in our class had lice, so they could monitor our head situation. lol
