What is the meaning of the start with a number beside my user name?

The star is your Ranking here. 10 is the highest with 1 being the lowest. It is based on the Ratings system here on how people feel you relate when starting a New discussion or posting back to someone else's discussion as well. It is just something to motivate and gear people in here on what they're wanting to achieve.

Hello there! You probably been asking about the STAR besides your username. It is the star reputation. Mylot and our friends or members rate us, and such rating will reflect to our star reputation. The number inside the Star represents the color rating from 1-10 the latter being the highest. When you place the mouse pointer to the Star, you can see your rating which will range to 0 - 100.
