when a dog howls...

I have not heard a dog howl like that in a very long time... i think the last time was when i was in grade school... my parents just bought this dog... who howled like that at night... and scared the pregnant neighbor... they decided to return it... because it was like a crazy dog... i don't know what happened to it after that...

Where I live almost every one has a dog as do we. They do do their share of barking at different times of the day. But when they start to howl it is because there is sirens going off some where either a fire truck police car or ambulance. I think that they howl because the sirens hurt their ears. we once had a cockapoo and when the kids would place their clarnet the dog would howl along with them on the higher notes.

lol I'm used to that! :) Most of my neighbours have dogs, and sometimes during the night they start barking... Also there's a school right in front of my house and they have many dogs locked up there in their garden... so yeah I'm used to hearing dogs barking at night :) But I know what you mean with those long howls... Me and my family took care for a friend's dog for about a year, and the poor thing used to start howling at night really really loud because he missed hiw master... He always woke me up and (just like you I see...) I had problems falling back to sleep. But he's gone back now.. :D But if I'd hear a dog I don't know howl like that when I'm outisde at night... then that's another story... :) I'd be scared of course! That's why I never wander the streets alone at night :)

it is a very erie sound to hear. u can't help but wonder why the dog is doing that. hope it doesn't happen again.u have a great week to.

Oh dogs howling at nights? Well that always happens in my neighborhood. My neighbor's dogs are so annoying that they howl anytime of the day. But what scares me is when they howl exactly at 12 in the morning. Reaaaalllly scary. The first thought that comes to my mind is that the dogs might be seeing ghost walking in the neighborhood. Sometimes my curiosity strikes and I would peek at my window and see if there are any ghost strolling hehehe. But most of the time I get mad at the dogs and shout at them for waking and scaring me. Most of the old citizens say that it's bad if dogs howl especially at nights. They say someone in the neighborhood is going to die so you have to make the howling stop. Don't know if its true but nonetheless, I try to stop the howling. Ciao!

I live in USA & if a dog howls here it is because they hear a siren or sad. I had a dog named Sadie & when she got sad she would howl. It is like crying for a dog. My Sadie love me so very much that if something happened to me she would cry. And when she howled she had tears coming down her cheeks. She loved me & I loved her so very much it took me 20 years to love another dog. She was very special pup. I tell my puppy Scotty about her now & I show him her photo & tell him how great she was & he acts like he knows exactly what I am talking about. He also know when I am sad too for he comes & puts his head on my shoulder to comfort me.

when we had a dog, it is sometimes scares me when the dog howls for a long scary ones and especially at night time.
