I just finished watching "Lost in Austen" from PBS. I thought it was really good and it left me wanting more. Sadly, I heard that the show didn't go over well in the UK and won't have a second season. I hope that is wrong. It is about a girl who loves Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. She gets transported to the setting of the book. The lead actress, Jemima Rooper, was perfect for her role. The guy who played Darcy was also amazing. He was brooding and sullen, just as he should have been. Alex Kingston, from ER, is also in the show. I actually was told about it by an email friend and downloaded it from mininova. It is only 3 hours long. Have any of you seen it? What did you think?

I've seen it. At first, I was apprehensive to watch it because I thought that Pride and Prejudice is perfect as it is, so what's the point? But it turned out to be a great series! The story is not what I expected, and the same goes for the characters. And the twists (esp. Georgiana, Wickham and most of all Caroline Bingley!) and jokes! In Lost in Austen, I've come to understand and love the characters that I dislike in P&P like Mrs. Bennett and the other Bennett sisters. Lost in Austen's Mr. Collins has got to be the most disgusting Mr. Collins in all the P&P adaptations, yes? (And he has brothers! I lol'ed at that one.) Also, Elizabeth and Darcy are my favorite couple in classic fiction. Before watching Lost in Austen, I couldn't imagine them not ending up with one another. But the show's well-written that I could accept the pairings at the end. And though Elizabeth was well, pretty useless throughout the series, I couldn't come to hate her. Jane Austen might actually be turning in her grave because of the events, but it was still a great retelling of her story! I didn't know that it wasn't that popular in the UK. But it's got good reviews in imdb, and it's gotta be popular somewhere else, because why else would there be a movie adaptation in the works? (And speaking of movie adaptation, the film has to be at least 2 hours, don't you think?)

It is going to be awesome! I can't wait to see who they cast in the different roles. I think Jane would be flattered that people still care enough to adapt her work in any way. I still have the miniseries on my hard drive so I can watch it again!

That's true. Every now and then a P&P-inspired novel comes up. Have you read the one with the zombies? I thought the idea was ridiculous but after watching Lost in Austen, I'm opening up to any kind of adaptation!

No, I have not seen it. PBS usually has a lot of quality miniseries. Maybe you can find out online whether it will have a sequel or something. It sounds like a wonderful premise. And it is always nice to see people we see on regular television, do something in this manner, like the woman from ER. Whose real name escapes my mind.

I couldn't find anywhere where it said either way about a second season. However, the wiki said a full-length movie was in "production". I will certainly watch it!
