Now why is this so? The average duration people spend on the internet is about 6-8 hours a day while we spend only an hour or two, three hours at the most, with family. Isn't this alarming?

Ys, you point on very interesting thing. May be it is big problem of future. But in these days human beings become new computer slave. They can't do anything without computer.

It's a good point. I am always trying to make my computer a bit better, upgrading this and that, which is all very well, but it shouldn't encroach on 'family time'. When our lives are over, we won't be thinking 'Oh I wish I had visited this site or that site, or read more emails, or made more blog posts...' We will be wishing we had spent more time with our loved ones. It is easy to get drawn into online activities, but it might be sensible to use some time-limits.

The internet is especially good when you live far from family and CAN'T see them. My family live only 30 miles away but I don't have a car and they are really busy, so the main way I keep in touch is by phone or internet. It is kind of weird that people who live with their families spend more time on the internet though, but it makes sense, I guess, when you realize that the net is so useful in doing homework, socializing with friends, playing games, getting entertainment, etc. So you can do a lot of things online that are things you'd be doing anyway, only on the phone, at the library, etc.

I spend most of the day on the internet when I'm not with my family and they are at work. I'm trying to make some extra cash until i can get a job. When they come home from work around 6 I'm off the computer and doing stuff with them. I do other things during the day around the house, so I'm not sitting in front of the computer the entire time. I do laundry, dishes, cook, clean and whatever else might need to be done around the house.
