effexor was my worst nightmare.. i've been on paxil for 12 years, and the doc wanted to try something new with me because i was still having too many panic attacks. they told me to stop paxil one morning, and just take an effexor instead. they told me i would get less side effects doing it that way because the paxil was still in my blood and everything would just 'even out' and i'd be fine. first day on effexor, nothing too bad happened. i started to feel a little spaced out and 'antsy' but that was it. second day, VERY anxious, panicky, hyperventilating, just feeling 'crazy'. third day, the anxiety is worse and i'm panicking more, and i'm starting to feel a little nauseous. still feeling very crazy. fourth day, FULL BLOWN NAUSEA. and people i mean that, it was AWFUL. i've been pregnant two times and morning sickness didn't even compare. still anxious n panicky and feelig more crazy than ever! fifth day and until i went back on my paxil, the nausea was a NIGHTMARE, i was constantly gagging, it didn't matter how many anti nauseants i took, nothing helped. the anxiety and panic was SO bad by now as well. for someone who's lookin for a drug to help her panic attacks better than paxil, and who has a phobia of vomiting, effexor WAS my worst nightmare. i did try and stick it out though..i think i lasted 6 or 7 days until i just couldn't continue. i'm a single stay at home mom who needed to look after her kids.. i could barely do that with my head in a bucket 24/7. so back to the paxil it was. it took about 3 days for the full blown nausea to stop, then it was smooth sailin. has anyone else had this sort of effect from effexor?? i'm glad to say i'm back on paxil, and will never try switching drugs again lol

I've been on Effexor for a few months now and haven't really had any problems with it. Seroquel was a different story, however. I had really bad muscle spasms when I was taking it, and they haven't gone away yet. :S

I have never actually experinced that problem I been taking Effexor XR for almost 5 years or so now with increased doseage in beetween but have been on steady millogram of 300 now for qite sometime now. I know everyones body is different thats how I cam off paxil long ago when Effexor XR first came out. Dr was like I am going to have you try something new and I did well with it. Just had to have increased a few times till they found the right doseage. The side effects are nausea some people have it more then othere you did the right thing if it prolonged you were to call doctor to let them know.
