Preserving dried flowers

I want to make miniature flower arrangements with dried flowers and other "naturals," but I don't like the fact that they get brittle and crumble very easily. Is there anything I can use to spray on to make them more durable? I've heard of using hairspray, but I'm not sure if that would last very long.
