What do you do for those really horrible headaches?
I was reading (something I normally don't do) because I was transferring information on animal medical charts. And I was doing this for over an hour. I started getting a headache and kept going. Then finally I was done with what I was doing and went home. I had to put on my darkest sunglasses just to drive home.
Then I get home and take a shower to feel better and keep feeling worse. I try to sleep, can't. I walk to the fridge with my eyes closed because the light hurts so bad just so I can get a bag of ice. And then I end up puking all night and couldn't sleep until 3:30am and then I woke up at 5am.
Even now a couple days later my head hurts mildly. I took so many Advil too, it is the only thing I had in the house.
Do you use something like Imitrex? If so, how did you get it? Can any doctor prescribe it or did you have to have a bunch of tests run first? I get horrible headaches like this if I read and sometimes I can't avoid reading. But I don't have enough insurance to get tests run, I can only get medication (I'll probably have to pay full price, but at least the visit will be about half off). Anything over the counter that actually works?

A headache is one thing , but throwing up With a headache sounds scary to me. you should see a doctor. me, when I get a headache, I take aspirin and I eat something. The food helps to protect my stomach .Within 30 minutes it is gone. But yours sounds like a migraineBut I am no doctor . I hope you will feel better. Take care.

Usually food helps me too if it's not from reading. Like if I'm just getting a regular headache from staying in the sun too long or forgetting to eat, then I will feel better if I eat some food and drink a bunch of water and take ibuprofen. But I tried eating food early on with the last headache and it didn't help me at all.
Luckily I feel better now except I notice a tiny bit of pain at times like with bright lights. But overall, I feel so much better. I'd just like to not have these migraines/headaches or whatever they're called.
