What's the deal with Salvia?

Dr. Phil has a show today (it's a repeat) about a drug called Salvia. It is a legal drug that people smoke or snort or make into tea and some think it's more powerful than LSD. This one lady on the show smokes it with her son, she's a teacher, and her son has failed ninth grade twice and will likely fail again, all he does is smoke the stuff all day long and his mom buys it for him! It's been many years since I participated in any kind of brain melting recreational activities (besides TV and mylot LOL) so I have no first hand knowledge about this stuff at all. Have you heard of Salvia? Do you or have you used it? Do you think it should remain legal? Does it really screw people up? If you've used it, does it give you the "munchies"? DO you think kids should be able to have legal access to it? Did you see Dr. Phil today? Do you think that mom is a spazz? Have you tired of my questions yet? Are you surprised that I actually put up a discussion that is neither about politics nor religion?

I didn't see Dr. Phil, but I have seen news reports and videos about how Salvia affects a person who smokes it, and this stuff is real bad news. People go literally crazy, hallucinate all kinds of "lovely" affects. Did you know Salvia is a form of the herb Sage?

I've heard of it and wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I'm hallucinating enough watching the news every day. I could be wrong but I heard that the Somali pirates holing the Caption hostage are addicted to this. They figure they will start getting desperate and need a fix. They are hoping they can offer it in exchange to get him back.
