I fully agree with the selection as they have selected the best players who have performed well in 2008.I am proud to be an Indian as I see 5 of them in the list.Do you think the list is the best or do you think some others shopuld have been selected? The list goes like this... 1.Virender Sehwag 2.Graeme Smith(V.C) 3.Ricky Ponting 4.Sachin Tendulkar 5.Kevin Pietersen 6.Shivnarine Chanderpaul 7.M.S.Dhani(Captain) 8.Harbhajan Singh 9.Mitchell Jhonson 10.Zaheer Khan 11.Dale Steyn

At last the wisden people have become wise and have included sachin tendulkar in a list although i am not happy with the entire list. I think andrew flintoff should havd been in the team instead of kevin pietersen even though he did not play the whole year but i think that can be overlooked. Dhoni has played 6matches overall as captain and two of them in this year in new zealand. How can he be the captain of the team? Graeme smith should be the captain and sachin should be the vice captain. Even chanederpaul as vice captain will do. And lastly ricky ponting does not deserve to be in the team he should be replaced by hashim amla who is one of the best batsman in test cricket at this point. I am not too sure about harbhajan but no other comes in mind not even vettori as i think new zealand did not play enough test cricket at that time.

Pratik , Are you a South African or are you biased? You always go with South African players. Here we are talking about Test team & where in the world did Flintoff come into the team? Hashim Amla....instead of him you can have Mike Hussey or our own Gambhir. I agree with you in 2 counts that of removing Ponting & stripping of MSD from captaincy.

no krupesh i am not south african and neither i am biased. it is just that they are no.1 in odi cricket and no.2 in test cricket. and that is because the south african players are among the top cricketers in the world right now and i am just making that point. didnt you see how well flintoff played in the series against india in india. but im not adamant on him making the team i think he is a better choice than pietersen if an english player has to make the cut. mike hussey bats at no.4 and gambhir is an opener so though even i would like to have gambhir in place of hashim amla i am only selecting according to the position. at least we agree on the ponting and dhoni issue because those are really wrong decisions by the committee who selected the team. dhoni should be in the team but not as captain.

Gambhir can be a floater, he can play as an opener as well as one down player as is the case when Sachin & Sehwag open the innings. You might question me that its only in ODI's but when he can bat at the opening slot in ODI's he can be even good at one down.

as an indian i am proud that 5 indians made it to the dream world XI. i have no idea how this process works and on what basis they select players. i may be wrong but sehwag is a attacking batsmen.he plays test matches as t 20 matches.as an indian ,i am proud to see him in the team as he can demolish the bowling but he is not a world class test player i am not sure on what basis they selected the captain of the team.they have 2 other best captains in the world. ponting and smith. dont ever think dhoni is better than ponting. the guy may be losing matches at present but he is a very good captain.sure he had match winners like warne and macgrath but during the last series against india down under,on seeing that his bowlers r not bowling well,he made some of those very clever field placing to get the batsmen, not fluke. like in the case of tendulkar.he had a short point player to stop tendulkar from freeing his arms and got him out twice.thats the hallmark of a good captain i think the selectors went to dhoni not because he is a great captain but a captain who got luck on his side and winning. i dont think they got the bowling right. murali is way way better than bhajji and even the best in this business have trouble handling him. where is he? there r great bowlers like jimmy anderson, jerome taylor, rya sidebottom, flintoff, ntini, morkels.they all performed like the rest but no idea y they r not picked. steyn is a great bowlers but he lacks variety which makes him not so best in ODI and T20 matches.

Sehwag was brilliant last year.He scores at a very brisk pace which is going to set up the match for the team. His average last year speaks about why he was selected & the last 11 centuries from him have been more than 150 runs. Ya you have made a very good point for Ponting to be the captain.Give the side India have now & he is also going to win. Yes Murali was the best option there instead of Bhajji.Even Vettori would have filled the spinners slot. But the other bowlers you have mentioned are not better than what actually the team is now.

Yes you are right stardust even i vote for muttiah murlitharan instead of harbhajan i forgot about him. He is the best bowler in test cricket right now. Wisden always messes in their lists.

I also fully agree with you, The choice of captain also is correct, Actually Ponting is not great captain as It could not make the team to overcome from Mackgrath, Shane warne, Gilchrist, Bevan etc. dependency. Dhoni is superb in this matter.

Being an Indian its really great to see 5 players from Indian squad getting selected in the Wisdom team with Dhoni as its Captain. Still I have some question. Does Dhoni really deserves to be the Captain of this team?

The team was selected by the panel comprising Ravi Shastri , Ian Bishop & Ian Smith. If they had to choose a wicket keeper it should have been Kumar Sangakkara instead of MSD.Just with 8 matches as captain how did MSD get the nod ahead of Ponting & Smith as captain?Only Ravi Shastri knows.

Ya. it is great to see our indian players in the list or squad. Indians are rocking this year. It is great to know that sehwag is the opener who can clear the fence . Dhoni , the cool captain is team's captain , who can handle the pressure with ease.

Hi. The dream team looks great, with all the current best performers in there. But i feel at number 6 Australias Mike Hussey would be better. He is "Mr Consistent" for Australia for quite some time now.The choice would be very tough as Shivnarine Chanderpaul is also a proven cricketer. But i feel, Mike Husse has the slight edge..Rest of the team is perfectly fine. Proudly we can say that there are 5 Indians in there. All five champions in their own right.

The team was selected on the basis of the performances in 2008.In 2008 Hussey's form was very much worse. He was consistent till mid 2008 , but afterwards his form slumped.Chanderpaul has done much better than Hussey , so got the nod ahead of Hussey.
