Do wrong to no one...

Q2 2009, it seems more people are becoming victims to "ordinary citizens" turned killers/shooters. Abraham Lincoln said: "Love all, trust a few, do wrong to no one. That is how I think." Perhaps the world need more people turning away from forms of structural violence such as racism and elitism. It would take a lot of time learning and building our character, but it may be the only way to prevent most forms of violence ... How do we keep our world a safer place to live in? Any suggestions?

Hi ruperto, Abraham Lincoln was certainly a wise man but we should not only do wrong to no one, we should also reach out to help those who need it. When ordinary citizens turn to violence, there is a reason. It may be mental health issues as some cannot handle losing their job or a break-up in their marriage as well as others. Some people too feel they have no one to turn to when things get rough, and sometimes it's true. I just wish we could be a more caring society. In our grandfather's or great-grandfather's day, people reached out to help each other and considered it the right thing to do. Without some very big changes I doubt if we can return to that mentality. Blessings.

Thanks for the insight. I am reminded that many people are already helping those in need. I wish that together, we can all give more help in time to the needy in everyone's own way. I'm glad there are charity organizations and volunteers making a difference in the world today. Although I agree that there will always be a shortage of help available in places that they are most needed. May I learn to help more. God Bless.
