I just had someone look me in the eye and lie! I considered this person my friend but now I certainly don't think so. Have you ever had this happen? What did you do?

Yes I have. It's really funny , you know, when you can clearly see it!There can be two reasons.First one, when you friends lie because they're afraid to let you down.I don't get angry when it happens. But if they're trying to fool me, they won't be my friends anymore.

Hi silvercoin...Those are two very interesting circumstances. I have had friends skirt the issue only because they didn't want to hurt my feelings. In that case there was no lying just a plea not to tell the truth. In the second instance there was an outright answer and no attempt to mask the lie. Thanks for your response.

Once only once. I cna't see in eyes and then lie. The person would catch my lie. But if I have to play a prank which will require a lie then I can do it smartly and even can say it with more confidence than anyone.

Hi sanuanu...I don't have that ability - I have an awful time lying and I get angry when I know that people are lying to me...Thanks for the response.

Yes, *sigh,* I have unfortunately been lied to... repeatedly and to my face... by someone that I was in a relationship with. Being a person who actively avoided and resisted any kind of confrontation, his first reaction to ANYTHING that put him on the spot was to lie. I would challenge him when I absolutely knew he was lying and, eventually, he'd admit to it. I asked him WHY he would even lie about something trivial and he told me, "I don't know. It's just my first reaction." He had a real "cover yer butt" mentality and it's like he always needed to give a quick answer to "buy himself time" to think about what else he might say or do. It makes it beyond difficult to trust someone like this because you never believe that you're getting a straight answer from the get-go. Ultimately, I would find myself constantly looking for some kind of "proof" that I wasn't being lied to and that's just not what you want or need in a partnership or relationship.

Hi thinkingoutloud...Thank you for sharing such an intimate response. I hope that you are no longer in this relationship due to his behavior. It's not healthy to the both of you to have such a relationship. Thankfully this is not a relationship in the traditional sense, just a co-worker. However I am constantly on my guard for what will come out of this person's mouth. Thanks for the response!

I have had this happen all the time. I hate it when someone can sit there look me in the eye and flat out lie to me.

Hi Jezebella...I hate it too - that's why I started a discussion about it - I was just curious if anyone else had the same views...Thanks for your response.

Hello deejean06, good day to you. Well, just like you i already experienced that thing and my friend also done it to me, but it's some kind of funny thing for us. Well, this is the story when we are going to school ask my friend to go first with our house and just stay for a while, then suddenly my mother came and ask my friend if my we have a class in school, she look at me then say none. Hahaha... Lol that day we are bot absent and the only thing that we do in our house is just to play our favorite computer games. When i remember the way she look at me and lie, i really laugh because her face is some kind of a little kid. Well, for me when people look at you in your eye it only means that she/he have a plan with you or he/she want to do something with you even though if it's bad or good. As i remember this kind of situation where the person look into the eye of the other and lie, are always seen in some movie episode, to make a trouble with the other character which i think is one of the sign to start a figh or argument. Here in my country most of the people didn't do this thing because when they will lie to someone they really direct it to the point and there are no more sign show in the people. But not i'm not telling you that most of the people here in my native country always lie. Hehe... lol . There are some instance when the situation is like that it start a good relation especially with someone that you didn't know, then they will encounter that situation and may be it will be the way for you to be close to each other. Hehe well that's all my response with your forum topic discussion entitled "have you ever had someone who look at you in the eye and lie?". I hope that i give a good interesting response! Happy posting and happy earning with us here in this site of mylot. God bless and Godluck [em]ninja[em]

Hi online and don't worry about the double posting. Things happen especially with computers. Of course it's not your fault. One flick of the mouse and you've posted again LOL! I completely understand that you and your friend said something that wasn't true because you didn't want to get into trouble. And that is something that can happen. However I don't think in my situation the person who is lying to me is doing it because they don't want to get into any trouble. But thanks for the story and thanks for the response.
