Midwives Vs Hospital Doctors

In the past decade, hospital doctors have been using an increasing cesarean section for child birth. Many of these cesareans could have been avoided if the parents were better educated on the risks of cesareans. Child birth today has become a business. The primary focus seems to be how can I get more money out of my patient. To make as much money as possible, doctors need to see as many patients as possible per day. For a mother in labor, that means speeding up the labor process. Doctors today use drugs such as pitocin to speed up the birthing process. Now comes the problem which doctors don't tell people. For a natural birth to take place (without any drugs), the body must be as relaxed as possible. This allows the body to focus on pushing out the baby with minimal stress to the baby. When you add pitocin and other drugs to this process, it disrupts the process. It changes the body's contraction into very strong hammer like contractions. If the mother gets an epidural, then she doesn't feel the pain, but her baby does. After a short time of this, her baby's heart rate will start to drop due to the stress from these strong contractions. Doctors then use their classic line "The baby is in danger. We need to perform a cesarean to save your baby." Assuming everything goes well, You'll get to see your kid about an hour after he or she is born. That's because you'll be in the recovery room waiting for all the drugs to wear off. Getting a cesarean is major surgery. There are many risks which you need to know before consenting to one.Don't just take your doctor's word for it. Do the research and find out for yourself. You need to know.

There are three options for birth in my local area. One is having the delivery at home, two is having the baby at the midwife led unit in my nearest town and three is having the delivery at the consultant led unit at the hospital in the city 20 miles away. I have taken my son for appointments at the city hospital and they have a display with the figures showing types of birth had in percentages by all the pregnant ladies. It was shocking to see the number of cesareans, forceps and similar. I know that many ladies are pushed into having an emergency cesarean and they are in a poor way to argue. At home the atmosphere is relaxed and my last baby was born in two and a half hours with no pain relief. Many midwifes know much about natural and active labor.

Wakinsey, this is very helpful information. I read about this during my pregnancy. I think all mothers to be and father to be should know this. Some doctors encourage mother to have cesarean section because doctors does not need so much time spent on one patient and besides, it earns more money for doctors. Well, i do not mean mother cannot have cesarean section, i just think mothers should try the natural birth first, if it does not work well, then can decide to have cesarean if any emergency. For me, cesarean section is for those mothers who cannot have natural birth. Some mothers who do not have any problems and the position of baby is correct, but because of the fear, they go through cesarean section. I do not agree with this. Choosing a correct doctor is also important. One of my doctor said i would have premature birth so he wanted me to have cesarean section, but luckily i did not believe in him. All i want is having a natural birth. Then i went to another doctor, he said everything was fine. In the end, i was even over due! I had induced labour and the labour was easy for me, i did not need any tools or cesarean. If i would have listened to the previous doctor, until now i would still think natural birth is painful. Now, i did not have fear about natural birth because i have experienced a wonderful labour without so much pain. Mothers and fathers should do the research and find the best choice for themselves. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
