Do you appreciate it when the OP replies to your comments?

If Someone leaves comments in a discussion that I started, I try my best to reply if I can. I may not get back to you right away, but if I have enough to work with, I usually respond to any comments that are left. I think that it is hard to get a real discussion going if nobody responds to the people that have taken time to participate. What do you think? Do you appreciate when the OP replies to your response? Maybe you don't have the time to come back to a discussion anyways, so it really doesn't matter to you either way? Perhaps it depends on whether the OP's opinion differs from yours?

I really appreciate it when someone replies to the post I gave to any discussion that I participate in. I mean, be it my discussions or discussions that others have started, I really do like it when the discussions builds up in a very intersting direction. Of course, there are times when the discussion seems to go and deviate to something else but, as long as its related, I still enjoy it. Uhmm, what do you mean by OP by the way? (^_^")

OP = Original Poster. It doesn't matter to me if the response or reply comes directly underneath my post or is addressed in the next numbered post, but I appreciate it when someone takes the time to consider the essence of the comments and attempts to address them. It's not really a discussion if there are only a random series of posts that aren't related to one another. A true discussion is fluid and takes into account everything that has been mentioned, but many members have a limited amount of time and can't read every post. I try to read everything before leaving comments, but I am guilty of this sometimes too. Wouldn't it have been ironic if I started this thread and then opted not to respond to any of the comments left?

It would indeed be awkward if you didn't reply to anyone who posted in this discussion of yours. (^_^") Yeah, if we all just have enough time to evaluate every post that has been given and then we reply with what we could come up, with time on our side as we do so, I guess it would really turn out into a very good discussion. I would even ponder why myLot hasn't implemented a feature as one makes a discussion, like 'quoting' someone's post so that you can actually be detailed to what it is that you are referring to. (^_^ )

Well, first let me say welcome to myLot sammyspam. If nothing else, a response by the OP is an indication that they have read your post. I appreciate it when others respond to my comments and I don't try to make it seem like anyone should feel obligated. If you are enjoying yourself, you are more likely to take part anyways. Thanks for joining in.

I do appreciate it when the op replies to me but I also understand if they dont, I am sure there is a reson if they dont, but it is nice to get a response expecially if it keeps the discussion going.

It's important not to take things too personally. Members come to myLot for different reasons and choose to interact the way that is most advantageous to them. The trick is to find the people that work best with you and make friends.

Like you said - what's a discussion if there's no 2 way traffic? I always appreciate when someone responds to my discussion & I always made sure I replied back unless the thread has stretched too long & off topic, then I would either stop or end the thread by giving a one word answer or putting emoticons!~

I wouldn't try to close discussions. As far as I know, myLot doesn't let us close down/delete discussion ourselves anyways. I think that posts risk becoming deleted by myLot if they venture too far off topic anyways. If that's the direction a discussion goes, I roll with it. Discussions can be like that. When conversing face to face, going off in a tangent often happens.

Yup, that often happens & if it's someone that I'm familiar with then that's fine with me. But sometimes when I get the feeling like it's conversation just for conversation sake then that's when I stop the unfruitful discussion / conversation

I think it's nice if the original poster drops a line by my comment but I don't expect it unless I ask a question. I don't expect it because I know that I will never be able to respond to every comment that is posted on my discussions that I have started. I do try and reply though if someone has asked a question.

I think that it is great that you attempt to help out when you can. It is important to temper our expectations, try not to be self absorbed and avoid being overly sensitive. Online interaction can be tricky and everyone doesn't spend their online time the same way. Many of us can be very busy and I like to take notice when others spend some time conversing with me when I can. I try not to make others feel obligated and I try to make them feel appreciated when they do choose to participate. Cheers.

Well, these are some interesting comments. Is it really a discussion or can the discussion move forward if everyone agrees or has the exact same opinion? I don't have to agree with someone to think that their post was worthwhile and added to the discussion. I wonder how others on myLot view differing opinions? Perhaps I'll start a new discussion with this question in mind...
