How to be a good employee?

I am a freshman,and I want to be ready well before I graduate from my university,cause the competition is fierce in society,especially after the financial tsunami. My major is financial management,and I plan to find a job related it in a corperation with foreign capital.I know I need to improve my English first,especially my oral English. And the communicative competence is important,cause I must contact with many people which is caused by my work. Besides,the enouch professional knowledge is necessary. But,what other skills must I need so that I have the strong competitiveness?Could U help me?It's better that u can share your experience.
