Are home appliances in cohoots with each other?

Not long ago my dryer heating element went out. And because I am super frugal right now I am line drying clothes on the good days...and making sure I have all clothes done for the bad, rainy days. Well, now my fridge is making a weird noise once and awhile and about two years ago I had to purchase a little bitty thing to replace the element for cooling...well I think that's what it sounded like before it went out.
Do you ever noticed when one appliance acts up the others soon follow? Maybe this is why I should be doing the yearly maintenance check on appliances....LOL Ya think.

Yea, I do think. I'm sure they talk to each other while you're sleeping too.

It's because you aren't maintaining your appliances that they seem to go out at once! Take one day a month and vacuum the coils on your fridge, and clean AND check the seals. Check the temperature setting, check the bulbs, DO THE MAINTENANCE! The easiest things to do for a dryer: 1) MAKE SURE YOUR LINT TRAP IS CLEAN EVERY TIME YOU USE THE DRYER! and 2) Don't overload the machine (same goes for the washer). Washers are pretty easy--check to make sure drains aren't clogged, that funnels for softener and bleach are cleaner, and again, DON'T OVERLOAD THE WASH DRUM and make sure it's balanced!
I know from personal experience about the washer and dryer--my ex managed to overload both machines (destroying the dryer and ruining the washer). The refrigerator I learned from frugal sites on how to maintain the appliances.
Good luck--and watch the sales!

These things seem to happen in threes to me. Our kettle, microwave and electric iron conspired against us and went on strike all the same day.
They even timed so that they all explode
a couple of days after the warranty expires
Maybe we should have treated them nicer and did said maintenance
