Off to the fair!

I'm off to the fair with my kids today! Money has been tight for the past several years. I haven't taken them in years. We just got our income tax refund a few weeks ago. There are probably more "practical" things we should be spending our money on. But, sometimes I think that spending money to go out and have a good time with your kids, IS a worthwhile investment. What do you think? Is spending money on a "movie night" once in a while with your kids a waste of money, or do you think, even if it means cutting back somewhere else at some point, that it's okay to put your worries aside for a little while and jut have some fun with your kids! I know there are cheaper ways to have fun. But sometimes, those things just don't cut it. If there's a little extra money, do you always save it for more important things, or do you choose to have a little fun once in a while, despite your right budget. Hey! At least I'm not putting it on a credit card now! I can't. I have no more credit. Maybe I should be paying this money toward one of my debts, but right now I just happen to think that some fun times with my kids is more important. The clock is ticking toward the day when my daughter is off to college. I treasure the time I have left with her.

Every once in a while you just have to have fun with your kids. Once they are all out of the house, you'll have great memories to look back on.

If you have it and want to spend it go ahead, you only live once. I hardly had a chance to take my son anywhere that cost money so good for you. Go for it.

I don't think it's a bad thing to treat yourself every now and then. We do it. We splurge and get pizza or buy a couple new DVD's...something like that. We always make sure that all our bills are paid first though and that we have money for the rest of the month. It's aggrivating to see ppl blowing money on treats and then complaining that they can't pay their rent or electric. I hope you guys had fun at the fair...I haven't been to one in a long time. I would put that money into the bank and leave it there instead of taking it out to the fair and wasting it. I haven't been to a fair in years. It is a waste of money, and the fair workers, especially the ones who run the games, are trained to rip you off. You would be better off to either put that money in the bank, or to pay off some credit card or other debt...

Thanks for your post. I can understand where your coming from. I've said no to wasting money lots of times. Today just wasn't one of those days.

It's very important to spend fun time with the family! I remember when I was a single mom - and even sometimes now that they're grown and I have a bit more money - I would put "bill" money into the "fun" money pile. You gotta keep your sanity too!! Have a great time!!!!

I totally agree that you should take the money and spend it to have fun with the kids. I love to go to the fair and I don't usually spend a lot of money there unless I am eating. I think that it is important to have those memories with our children. I know that my 18 year old daughter has moved out on her own and I do miss her although I see her often. It is not the same as having her with me on a daily basis. I also have already thought about the fact that she may not go on a vacation with us this year and that makes me sad! Enjoy your children while you can!!

Hey miamilady! You are doing the right thing for right now! You go to the fair with your kids! That is what you need to do right NOW! Never mind later! We all don't know what tomorrow will bring so have fun NOW! I think you have the perfect outlook on everything! You sometimes just need to cut loose and do what you feel is right for the now and not the later! Sometimes the later has to just take care of itself! So enjoy your day a the fair! I wish I was going too!

Hi,miami,do not worry about your dudget and credit,it will be Ok,but the happy time with your kids can not been bought using money in the future.I believe that even the penniless people have the right to be happy.I will do the same thing as you did.I can save and consider your investment in common life, and once in a while we do not need to worry about tomorrow.Just be happy and high with you family, your kids, and then come back to normal life.It is great.

Awww...I think it's okay for you to go out and have fun, what more with your daughter going away soon, you should spend as much time with her as possible until she leaves. I know the debts are piling up, but family is still more important right? Besides, you'd have a lot of time later to worry about that, make up for it and work more...^_^ just an opinion though, take care and happy mylotting!
