Chemicals; Can they go bad?

I clean for a living, I love cleaning, it's my thing. But recently i've been thinking. The place i work for orders loads of the same product, and we use most of it within a certain period of time, but there's some of the cleaning chemicals that have been sitting for at least a year. So i was wondering if anyone knew if normal cleaners, and or, green cleaners (Environmentally friendly) could go bad?

A lot depends on the active ingredients in the cleaners. Especially after opened they could undergo chemical reactions with exposure to air, and any substances in the air. Hypochlorate bleaches would give off chlorine when opened and not last very long. Unopened, cleaners could last some time, but even then some chemicals can be unstable, the temperature that they are stored at can have an affect as well. Green cleaners tend to have less (or no) preservatives in them, so may have a short shelf life. Do they have 'use by' dates on them, if so they may not last much longer than that date.

I would imagine that as long as they're unopened and the seal not broken, then they would last and be fine, but if a certain amount of them has been used already, the chemical reactions in the cleaners might have started on opening, and now, burnt out, so to speak, rendering them useless. I would say that they'd probably work for between six and twelve months depending on what the product is, but after that, would discard them, especially if they changed in appearance. Brightest Blessings my friend.

You clean for a living, and you love it? Wow!! Want to come clean our place? hahaha We hate cleaning. As for cleaing products, I don't think they would go bad. I had stuff around here for yeears and it still seems to work pretty well, the occasional times when we actually use it. LOL
