Who is with you???

OK if you didn't read my other post about being in love with 2 people then you might want to check it out to understand where this question comes from. It's a question my stepmom posted to me once when we talked about being in love.
It's 10, 20, 50 years from now...you are in a boat, in the middle of the ocean who is with you? and why?
When I think about it now and when she asked me the question I told her what I thought at the time. I have come to find now that it wasn't true. The person who I can see myself with 50 years from now, the only person I would want to be in that boat with is my girlfriend. Yes I am a lesbian. I have been with my girlfriend for 3 years and I can tell you that I love her more than anything in the world. I know that if it's by my choice...she will be the one who is with me "in that boat".

I could answer that question in a heartbeat if it was a few weeks before, but now things have changed and I'm no longer sure if he would want to be with the boat with me.
It's sad really, how people just slip away after brewing a lot of hurt and pain, and you didn't notice it coming.
I would want to say it's still him I'd like to be with in the boat with me 50years down the road, but I can't be certain anymore. I can't force someone who doesn't want to be with me nor can I beg him to do such a thing ~ it should be heartfelt and real.
I'm glad you have found someone whom you can honestly say you love and she loves you back. I can say I love him, but I just didn't take care of the relationship ~ now he's gone.
So I guess for now, I only could see myself alone in that boat 10, 20, 50 years from now. Perhaps someone who's also sailing alone could sail with me, not in the same boat, but in the same ocean.

Aww laydee I am sorry to hear that. I hate to say this because I always hate it when people say it to me but "if it's meant to be" The worst thing about love is exactly what you said. You can't make someone love you back. The reason that is bad is because sometimes we give ourselves completely to someone and they aren't feeling us the same way. When this happens it is us who ends up with a broken heart. I am sorry you are having to go through that. I am very lucky to have found my partner. I love her more than words can ever explain.

Gosh, can I choose more than one person lol? If it was one person only, it would be my boyfriend. I definitely see myself with him for the rest of my life.
He's the only man I have been with who respects me and loves me for who I am :-)
If I could choose more than one person, I'd take my best friend with me too lol.
Wish my cat would live that long, coz he's my best friend as well as my human best friend rofl.

LOL my intention for this post was actually kind of seeing if people were IN LOVE or not but it kind of took a turn. LOL That's ok cause I love all of the different answers. I, like you, would definitely want to take my cat with me and my dog. I don't have any friends that are close enough that I would take them with me.

I wish I could say that I have a special person in my life to be with in next fifty years or so but I don't have anyone special. yeah its been a long time for me... I am a sad and lonely human being LOL...

That would be my bf of 4 years now...He and i go wayy back...^_^ I have been through lots of things together...The wild and the crazy and the serious, he's just always there by my side either laughing our azzes off, or being serious with me. I am comfortable around him, and he is really really someone that i must have in this life. And with that, i hope that i'll be able to be in a boat... 50 years from now with him smilling his trademark cheeky smile to me....=]

That's awesome that you have a friend like that. My friends aren't like that. I don't have any children so I couldn't take them. I know if I did I would want them with me as well.

I have two or three people to take with me in this boat.I would choose the one I love the most, but the right decision would be to take the one who loves me the most.My best friend I guess..I can call her in the middle of the night,ask any question,any minute and get a friendly answer.She's with me when I'm sad or in bad mood or ill.No man can do this.Even the loving one.

That is awesome that you have a friend like that. I still think that I made the question a little to broad. I should have been more specific. I think when my stepmom asked me this question we were having a discussion about being in love and how to know if I was in love with that person. So I should have been a little more specific but still I could start a whole other topic with that. LOL

Thank you for your response. This was my stepmoms way of getting me to find if I was in love or not. The first time she asked me it took a while for me to answer her. But if she was to ask me now I would definitely have an answer.
