soul mates and destinies

a few weeks back, i finished paulo coelho's "brida", and it talked about soul mates: 1. one's ultimate goal in each life (reincarnation) is to find his/her soul mate, at which time he/she will be happy and peaceful and contented (or something like that). 2. the soul--once the body dies--splits into two other souls that will inhabit two different bodies, which are supposed to meet in order to be one again. with the previous experiences (friends') about such mysterious things, it makes me think: are there [really] soul mates for every one? am i supposed to go looking for my soul mate? am i destined to meet him/her? will i only be truly happy when i get united with my soul mate? how does one know [in reality] that he/she has already found his/her soul mate? hmn...

Hi liaamur, love your avatar! I wrote an article about soul mates a while back and while researching it I found differing views of course. What made sense to me was the idea that we may have more than one soulmate and he or she may not necessarily be of a romantic nature. What I also discovered was that the people we become involved with in our lives are there to teach us the lessons we are required to learn and sometimes when the task is done we move away from each other. I have found that to be true when I've looked at my life in retrospect and could sometimes see quite clearly the reason why a certain individual had come into my life although it may not have been so clear at the time. My view is that the Universe will send to us the perfect balance, being the person whom we have the most to learn from. If you are interested in reading my article about soul mates PM me and I will send you the link.

paula, first of all let me do a *pink blush*...thanks, i like the pink shoes very much, too. somehow, i find it [what you said] very much in line with youravatar. i do understand that soulmates may or may not be of romantic nature, the two examples i talked about in my original thread were of this kind--plainly of peace and contentment. it's not even friendly, and not at all romantic, it simply is. these are what made me realize that there might be someone out there for me, although i don't think i need to look for him/her. i'd be happy to check your article, paula. ^_^V

To me, this seems like a depressing idea if anything - to only have ONE person that can make you happy and peaceful and content? I think we have too much to learn and gain from other people for there to only be one 'soul mate' that can help us find the meaning of our lives. There are a lot of people out there who claim to have found their soul mates, and I'm happy for them. But just because you don't have one doesn't mean you can't be just as happy while being independent and free than with another person at your side.

well, not necessarily one person, or soulmate...if the two souls did not meet, they would not be one. therefore, there could be more than one 'split' souls from the original one soul that could be living in the same life...and if you meet more than one of them other souls, then conflict could arise between the souls...or something like that. it is interesting, in the sense that it posed an understandable explanation, in the context of reincarnation, why there are more bodies in the recent world when there had originally been two human beings (being adam and eve)....interesting, but i still say it's difficult to fully accept...for me. heheh. ^_^V

I am sure there are some natural laws that govern this just like every other natural occurrence, but rules and regulations are man made and I wouldn't worry to much about it what will happen is what you need to learn for the lessons you need for each life.

i did think so...we only know that we live only one life (if reincarnation is ever true) and it is too short to spend looking for a soul mate who may as well be on the other side of the earth. i'd say we wait and see... lol

I don't know about the reincarnation or the soul splitting but I do think we have soulmates. I think that there is someone out there for everyone. I don't know if we're supposed to hunt them or wait for them to come to us. I do know that there are people that never find theirs.

well, it's a kind of magic that comes unexpectedly. you just feel it that he's the one no questions ask...your heart can tell. No one can explain the feelings of meeting their soulmates but the sure thing it's very overwhelming; you really love the feeling.hehehe. sooner or later you'll meet your soulmate...just wait. Godbless...=)

Well I think in one way it makes sense. I dont believe in finding our soulmate. There are people who do and i respect them for believing something like that even if it might not be true. And i do wonder how do you know if you have found your soulmate or not.

well, coelho asserts that certain 'paths' have their own ways of knowing whether a person is your soulmate or not. it all comes down to 'the look in their eyes'...how to know which look, i have no idea. i guess you would know when you meet him/her. kinda like falling in love, but in a totally pure feeling.

I do believe in soul mates and destiny. If you want to understand the other views and questions in your mind, I suggests you to buy the book , Soulmates, Karma and Reincarnation by Jaime Licauco which is the paranormal expert in our country, the book costs less than PHP200 only and you can buy it in National Bookstores. The book can open your mind and answer all of your queries about it.

Soul mates and destinies are what you make them them. No one has a chrystal ball to see what will work and what wont. All we can do is try and let the chips fall where they may.

It's not easy to find a soul mate. And I am a little doubtful. People in our lives can teach us different things, no matter he or she is soul mate. If it is the destiny that you can meet such kind of person. Do cherish the time with them.

This will be my last post before I hit the bed. Paulo coelho is my fave author! His writing and his vision is so wonderful. Soulmates... perhaps, I haven't find mine yet. I beginning to lose hope. But some people are so good together like they are made for each other which makes me think twice about soulmates.

That is very interesting because it could be said of my partner and I that we are two sides of the same coin so to speak. We could easily be two souls that used to be one, but the only problem with that theory is that it would seem that two souls would multiply into four and then eight and so on and so forth.

Some people believe in soulmates, some culture have that belief, and some just call every single guy/girl SOULMATE! :-D Personally, I believe in destiny. Regarding soulmates, I think there are millions of people out there who are potential soulmates, and it takes fate and God's grace to find that potential soulmate who you are destined to be with. But as humans, we are gifted with freewill, so even if the blueprint of our romantic life had been laid out, we can still choose to change that destiny.

Well, i guess it is up to you to define what a soul mate would mean to you...How was your destined soul mate suppose to treat you and make you feel? I don't know if i can say i believe in soulmates and true love, but you just know it when everything had fallen in to place and when you can imagine yourself years in the future with that special someone in life...But i once heard someone say this. Soulmates are for those people who are afraid and who just want to love comfortably...haha, well i guess everyone has their own unique views about soulmates....^_^
