I currently have a website that I used the web building software of my host to build. I now have "Dreamweaver" on my computer and I am thinking about using it to make my next site, I would like to know what software you use to build your website with? What are the advantages of using their software or your own? It looks like I am going to have to take a tutorial just to learn how to use Dreamweaver. It is pretty complicated and all I have used so far is what my host had to offer.

If you really want to learn dreamweaver, then go ahead and download tutorials. Cause as what I know though, if you have to have your own website, i think there is a payment for a web-hosting company so that your site will be available. I suggest though that you use free hostings like multiply, wordpress, blogger.. :-D That is just for blogging anyways, which is what i'm trying to learn right now... Good luck in your new learning though.

Thank you for your response and yes I am getting the tutorial for Dreamweaver now so I can learn it. As for web host; right now mine is free but I am close to needing a pay host with unlimited bandwidth etc,

I have used dreamweaver quite often to create sites. It may be a bit difficult to learn but there are things that you can do by trial and error, plus there are plenty of tutorials available. In dreamweaver, you can use the double view, so you can see both layout and code, so you can learn more what's going on.

That sounds good. Dreamweaver can look a little intimidating at first but like you said trial and error will get you a little ways. I am getting a tutorial for Dreamweaver so I should pick it up pretty quick with that. Once I get used to the software can I make changes to my website easily with this software? I understand about building and publishing the original site but to update things on the site is what I want to be convenient.

Yes it is easy to modify things with dreamweaver, as long as you intend to modify a few pages it's ok... because then you would need to upload them to the server again. Otherwise, you would have to go through all the pages. I don't suggest doing many layout changes.

for web applications i use Adobe Flash CS 4. it's great! it makes for amazing effects and animations! and if you are using dreamweaver , it's really easy to merge websites made with flash with the features of dreamweaver! all in all, for the most killer websites, use the Adobe Creative Suite 4!

Thank you for your advice. I have another question about the difference between using the host's software or using your own. Currently I have a free web host but I will be transferring to a paid host. I am currently using the software of the host and the paid host will probably have some too but I am thinking strongly of using my own. Now, using the host's software, if I need to make changes in my pages it is easy to log on and make changes quickly and easily. If I change to my own software will I be able to make changes as easily?

Don't use free hosting. You get what you pay for. You can use free hosting for blogs though. Learn basic HTML before learning dw and never use inbuild web builders they useless.
