Have you ever Hyperventilated due to stress

I seem to be doing this a lot lately. I cant seem to stop it. Always feels like I need to take a deep breath. Then I end up with to much oxygen and get dizzy. Then of course my heart starts raising and I panic. YUK! Have you ever hyperventilated and does the paper bag thing really work?

I have hyperventilated pleny before. I usually set on because of getting real upset. I hyperventilated once when i was pregnant because i got into a huge argument with my family. My doctor told me never to do that again. I dont know if the brown bag helps or not. I find if you take deep breaths and try to control it is the only thing that helped me.

I get it when I get myself upset about something. Sometimes all I have to do is think of something upsetting and I have one. I wish it would go away.

HI moneymommy! my kids are also like what you're experiencing but my advice is to relax..I think avoid eating chocolates, coffee ,carbonated drinks...complete hours of sleep is the most important..

The only time I was told I hyperventilated was when I was in labor with my first child. So not perhaps the stressful situation you were meaning, but stressful just the same.

From some of your previous posts that I've read, it sounds like you have been getting panick attacks. I really hope that you go to the doctor's to talk to them about it. It's not a fun way to have to live. I've lived it many times and it can really put your life on hold. If you want to talk more about this you can pm me, I'm here.

This sounds scary. I have never had a panick attack. I have a cousin who has gone through this and she is on meds now and under control. We didnt see her for a couple years as she kept to herself and then when she started coming around again she told us about them. I am not sure it the paper bag thing will work, they say it does, but its nothing that I have seen personally. Have you had a doctors appt lately.... or maybe you should just make a check up, it could be something very simple and they might just give you an excercise to do... I had headaches real bad due to stress and my doc gave me some excercises to do.... it worked for a while but then I just left that job.... life got better after that!! I hope they stop happening for you....take care of yourself!!!

I've had that--worse. Panic attacks so bad I nearly fainted. I know I've at least blacked out more than once. So I got put on Celexa. Cured the panic attacks. Aggravated the schizophrenia. :\

I have never hyperventilated due to stress. I don't know if the paper bag thing works or not. You really need to see a doctor if you are hyperventilating and having panic attacks all the time.

there was only once that I remember hyperventilating, that was when I split up with my ex-fiancee, I was heart broken and went through a nervous breakdown, but often times through my tears and panic I would find it hard to breathe, my mother was there at the time and taught me some breathing exercises, plus also gave me the brown paper bag and that did help...LoLo
