What is so special about the first response of every discussion?

I have seen so many discussions & the responses to them.I have also observed that people tend to follow the trait with which the first response is.Why is it so?Why does that happen?
Why is that first response so special?

Hi there!
Have you noticed too how so many users do not state what they really think? They seem frightened to be themselves.
When the topic of the discussion is something which requires some thought and a personal opinion has to be given many users steer clear of responding because they are wary of saying what they really feel. They will respond on the 'easy' poll-type so-called discusions because they do not have to expose their own thoughts.
The first response on some topics is very important and can make other responses bias in one way or another depending on how the user responds.
Personally if I find a topic interesting I will respond in the same manner whether I respond first or later on. Just by reading other responses will not always alter what I was going to respond had I been the first. If I have my opinion then unless something has been said to make me change my mind I will say what I think regardless of it 'going against the grain'.
Sometimes it's fun to be the first responder but for me it is not ny any means of absolute importance.

You are absolutely special in what you do.You are always a trendsetter for most of the discussions.I have seen your that when your is the first response the same trait follows.You are such an exception that I know you wont follow others.There are quiet a few who are just like you but you can count them for sure.

Most of them are my friends here too - that says a lot too 
It must be fun whatever I do here so it is very likely you will see me responding on a discussion in some interests like politics or religion. I leave those for the users that come here to have what I consider as topics that are too important to discuss here on a fun site like myLot.

that's because many of us believe we should "follow the leader". haha. and "lead by example". just kidding. i really don't know the answer but maybe because after reading the first responders idea we agrees with them and usually get their point so therefore we end up supporting the first response. but not all the time. i think sometimes we contradict the first response too. anyway happy mylotting and good day!
