I bought my PC in Aug 2004 and it is almost 4 and a half years old. I have purchased: P4, 128MB, 40Gb and a DVD reader. Now, I have P4, 128+512 MB, 40GB and a Cd writer with me but the writer isn't in its best of shapes so, I am using my old DVD reader these days. Well, I have changed my keyboard once and mouse once!

Dang you young pups sure are making me feel old. I bought my first PC either in the late 70's or early 80's. It was about half the size of the average lap top and it was made by Timex. It connected to the TV for the monitor. I think it would hold about 1.5 KB. A single page letter overloaded it. It had a membrane keyboard that was very sorry. Not long after that the Commodore 64 came out and man that was hot stuff. When I look back at all the money I have spent on computers over the years I regret ever buying the first one. The first real PC I bought was an IBM PS2. I think I paid over $2,000 for it and a 21 pin dot matrix printer. There was no internet then but it had software that would let me talk with other computers by way of the Phone line. It had a 50 Mhz processor and that was top of the line. I'm not sure about this but it seems like I could also get on AOL with it. I know you could connect with any computer that was on the phone line if you had their number. The best I remember this was the fore runner of the internet. Actually I have enjoyed using the computer as a self teaching tool. Art

No I don't have any need for a lot of bells and whistles on a computer. I learned a long time ago that simple is much better. The less you have on a computer the less problems you will have with it. I do my best to stay away from anything on one that will cause problems. I don't enjoy working on one. I have worked on them for years and now I'm ready to just turn one on and use it. Art

Our first computer at home bought by my dad, was too slow. I forgot about its processor since I am too small and too young to know about that time but I do know its operating system is Microsoft Windows 3.1. Its monitor was black and white CRT. I think its a 15 inches monitor. After that it is not working anymore. I think it was during in 1990's. In 2003 or 2004, my dad bought a new computer, a pentium 4, 128 megabytes RAM, 40 gigabytes hard disk drive, cd writer. I upgrade its ram 256 but still its not enough and slow. Having a desktop computer is necessary for me because I an information management student at that time and my computer performs not good and I decided to let my dad buy a pentium d processor, 512 mb ddr1 and 80G hard disk sata. NOw currently my computer specs AThlon x2 5000+ 2.60Ghz, 2 Gig ram ddr2 800mhz, 1 gig vcard x1550, (2 pcs 160g, 1 pc 250 gig sata hard disk drive). I replace my old box to AMD setup.

Yes I upgraded the RAM and Hard drive, but everything else is the same. I use it for one program... Fontographer. I have a new MacBook now and a Mac Mini, which are both great computers. ... and a Mac 512 and two old iMacs that don't work any more.

I got my first PC about 17 years ago. It had an Intel 486DX 33mhz processor, 4mb of ram, and a 170mb hard drive. When I got it this was a high spec machine and cost well over $1500! Now I have a cell phone that is more powerful and has more storage than my first PC!

Believe it or not my first computer was an Apple II+ and we bought it used from a neighbor about 23 years ago. And it still works! Here are the stats. Get ready for these you'll love it: Introduced in June 1979 Retail Price- US$1200 RAM- 48 KB, expandable to 64 KB Twin external 5ΒΌ-inch floppy disk drives CPU- MOS Technology 6502 microprocessor, 1 MHz OS- Apple DOS No Hard drive All the letter keys on the keyboard would type uppercase letters 24 lines by 40 columns of monochrome display (Yellow and Black. Other monitors would display Green and Black). Mono sound from a tiny internal speaker that could only play one sound and one note at a time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_II_series We had a document writing program (Apple Writer), a card and sign making program (Print Shop), and lots of games. One called Olympic Decathlon released in 1981 by a company called Microsoft. I wonder whatever happened to them?

Subsequently i bought my second computer in April 2003 and bought my third computer(It is a laptop) on the last New Year's Day,

My dad got me my first computer in mid 2003 when i was in 10th. it's configuration was Processor- Pentium 4 1.8 ghz Ram -128 mb HDD - 40gb CD-ROM 15 inch samsung monitor and all this caused my 36000 rupees at that time After 4 and a half year of long service, my PC broke down last year and so I started using my nanaji(grandfather's) computer. Now in college I needed a good computer so I urged my father to buy me a new one. So I purchased a new assembled cabinet from Nehru place Delhi last December with the following configuration. Processor - C2D 2.66 ghz Ram- 2gb HDD- 250 gb + 40 gb(my previous asset) DVD R/W But i am using the same monitor that I got in 2003 and I am very happy that it has never broke down in these long years of service. This time it cost was 13000 rupees I still have the Pentium 4 processor and I can't figure out what to do with it. Anyone have some ideas?

It was nice to hear it. You have got the latest configuration. What a co-incidence I am also using my first monitor only. I also have old processor with me. My dad was tell me to look new monitor so that we can start both systems. But unfortunately I have given my 16 gb harddrive to my friend and my dad don't know about that.
