Update on Maggie

So far, so good. Maggie has not had another episode since yesterday morning and she has been acting like herself. Last night when we went for a walk, she even had a little roll in the grass and got a tummy rub. She ate her food today with no trouble, now that I wet it to make it soft. She seems to be sleeping more, but she's old so that's to be expected.
I'm making sure she gets lots of love and I am watching her closely. I know better than to get my hopes up simply because she seems to be doing better, but I AM happy that she does not seem to be suffering now.
Thank you to everyone who has offered kind thoughts, words, and prayers, they really helped a lot.
I'll keep you all posted on Maggie's situation.

That's great news and such a relief to you, I know!
Maggie is probably relieved that she's feeling better, too, and I can picture that happy roll in the grass. I know you don't want to get your hopes up but keep thinking those positive thoughts. They help both you and Maggie. I'll be sending a whole BUNCH of them your way all day today! Hopefully, like with my little dog, whatever it was is over for good.

That is so sweet! Yes, children and animals have a special connection I believe and I know that Maggie is feeling very loved and supported, not only by you but by your little girl, too.

I'm SO glad things are going well for Maggie today! I do know from experience that the other pets in the household can tell when someone is sick and will show their caring side. We had an old dog years ago who had heart disease. The vet had said that he didn't have much time so we gave him lots of attention. Unfortunately, my oldest daughter found him deceased in her bedroom after school one day. The other dog...this dog's son...and the two cats were all in the room, holding vigil over their friend's body. It looks like your furry family members are just as happy that Maggie is feeling better as you are!

Thanks! It is so good to have my sweet angel acting like herself again! I hope it lasts. She started to come around shortly after my little girl drew her some colorful get well cards, I think it's my daughter's love that brought Maggie back to us.

I unfortunately didn't know previously about the condition of your dog but it is beautiful that she has gotten better. It is very fortunate that she has someone who cares for her so deeply especially when she needed that person the most. Good luck with everything.

Thank you. I think I actually need her more than she needs me. She's such a wonderful dog that it broke my heart to see her suffer and while I know she is old and will some day soon cross over to the other side, I'm hoping she'll stay with us a bit longer.

I know what you mean. I have a old cat, over 14 years old, and I know that she could pass at any given moment so I cherish every day, month, year that she is still living. She isn't as coordinated as she use to be but she is still active. I just know it will hurt me deeply when she passes. So we just got to make sure that we are in their lives and loving them at every step of the way so at least if the time does come, they can go peacefully.

Your kitty is as blessed to have you as you are to have your kitty. I hope she continues to bless you for a good while longer.

Awww--I'm so happy to hear Maggie's doing better and sounds to me like she's her old self again. I'll still keep her in my thoughts and prayers and she's probably loving every minute of all the extra attention she's getting

She is back to being her happy sweet self, she even RAN on our walk today! Of course I'm the mother hen trying to tell her not to overdo it, to which she responds by rolling over for a belly rub.

She's at my feet right now, just being her sweet loyal loving self. She even ran around a bit outside today!

That's great news Kitty, I'm so happy for you.
I forgot to tell you about a friend of mines little dachshund dog. He jumped off a really high bed one day and hardly moved for the rest of the day. We took him to the vet and the vet said he would need an operation that would cost thousands of dollars.
We took him back home thinking he would have to be put to sleep. He was 13 years old at the time. We babied him and my friend even shed a tear thinking we would have to take him for the needle the next day. The next day he was up and about as if nothing ever happened. It was so weird.
That little weeny dog lived for at least another 2 years, jumped out a window three times higher than the bed since then and crossed a main highway on a busy Sunday afternoon with out a scratch since that episode. Oh and, he also lived through getting too close to the back end of a porcupine. I thought the porcupine quills were going to for sure be the end of him. I haven't seen or heard about him about 4 years but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't still alive.

That little dog must've had one heck of a guardian angel! Maggie is also acting as if nothing has happened to he at all.

I am pleased to hear your precious pooch is doing better. I know it is hard on you to think of her moving back to your Dad, but when it happens at least you will know where she went. We lost a beloved dog last year and we cried and cried, but we couldn't see him suffering so much for very much longer. We were glad to have been his people. Thanks for the update.

Looks like she has decided to make my dad wait a while longer. He'll understand, I think maybe he heard my cries and pulled a few strings to buy us some more time with my Maggie.
