How long usually it takes to get your tax return?

My father file his tax return on the mid - March. He still not getting his tax return from both the federal and State yet; that really getting him worry. He didn't file the direct deposit. He only apply for a check to be sent to him. How long usually it takes for a check to be sent to him?

A check can take 6 weeks or longer to receive. Your father can check on the status of his refund at www.irs.gov. On the main page select Where's My Refund and you should find a link on the next page where he can check.

If he filed electronically...7-10 days plus time held up by Post Office.
If he mailed it through Post Office...Time to get there,1-2 weeks processing plus time to get back.
