I have heard that windows vista lacks in security. Is it a good option to switch to windows vista from windows xp?

Absolutely not because there are still some programs that are not compatible with vista. Also vista consumes so much part of RAM ! :(

windows does not lack security, it did have problems in the start but microsoft has already fixed them ,when you connect to internet , vista will update itself. vista offers better user interface but since it is very large, it not only consumes lot of space on your hdd (20GB+) , you will also find many new features in it, it is also a bit different in some ways than XP for example in control pnael, you will find new icons, new settings, etc.

No, there is no need to switch to Vista. Microsoft has failed with this and they are working hard to replace it as soon as possible. Expecially, with home edition, there is lots of problems. I have been given Vista with my laptop, but I have to switch to XP. I don't see any security problems with it and the fact that it is far much faster than Vista makes it more tempting.

Xp is better that Vista. Xp is faster and does not have many issues like vista. Some programs are still not compatible with vista. I would not recommend switching rto Vista.

on our computers here have had just as many problems with one as the other. some of the programs that work well with xp don't work as well with vista. probably their way to try to get you to spend more. we have vista home premium now seems to work ok not too many problems with it. it may just be the windows platform more then anything else that could have been the cause of some of our problems. i do agree it does take up a good amount of ram.
