Breaking news, its my birthday at the end of this month. Last year I just invited my friends at my place for lunch. Those who were busy managed to attend dinner. I have stopped celebrating my birthday by cutting cake few years back (6 yrs) I just want to know whether you still celebrate your birthday by cutting cake or have party at some location. I have stopped celebrating my birthday after my school life. What about you?

I am 55 years old. I have celebrated many birthdays. Every year is different. That's what makes it so much fun! One year it snowed for the first time in the season and when dropping my children off at school, I jumped out of the car and made a snow angel in the school yard just to celebrate. That was when I was 47. All the kids had a lot of fun coming out at lunch time and seeing my snow angel and talking about it. Most years I like a little cake of some sort. Candles are optional as it could start a fire with a candle for every year especially if it is a small cake. When my mother was alive, she would call me every year on my birthday at the exact time that I was born. Since I like to sleep in and I was born at 6:30 a.m., this was not always a welcome tradition. Now I think about it fondly. All in all, every new year is a reason for celebration. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and that there will be something fun and unusual to remember it by.

Hello Rakesh, as a kid I have done this so many times. Even in my hostel, we have a custom of arranging for a cake for the birthday boy and that seems really sweet gesture from the friends. I am at home now and I thought I would not cut any cakes this time but my family had arranged for it and I celebrated it the same way again!

My husband always gets me an ice cream cake from dairy queen for my birthday. I dont really like cake so he gets me that kind, but we do celebrate with cake every year. I always get him a princess cake which is cake with whipped cream, strawberries, and bananas in it. It is actually pretty good. I will eat a piece of it, but he has to have it every year. it is more expensive than my ice cream cake which doesnt make sense. He is going to be 30 this year & he still expects his cake. LOL.

My mom was a big birthday person. She never forgot anyone's birthday and she sure expected everyone to remember hers! LOL She talked about it for weeks ahead of time. One thing I picked up from her was always having a birthday cake. I do this for my family. Everyone gets a cake on their birthday, no matter what other plans may be in place. Sometimes it's dessert after dinner... sometimes it's served at a party (such as for my daughters)... but there is always a cake. AND we always sing Happy Birthday and there are wishes made and candles blown out. Seems to be such an easy way to recognize the person of the day - and I've never seen one yet that wasn't smiling :)

Yes, during my birthday, my friends or family usually give me cake as a birthday present and as one of the foods that we will be sharing on my special day. It's so good to have a cake on one's birthday because it will make you feel like a child again. Anyway, happy birthday in advance.

If you ask me, truly , i can say that i never used to buy cakes on my birthday. Because i think it's nothing so good with my birthday. But the interesting thing is that i used to celebrate birthday of others and i love it. I feel glad to hear about others' birthdays. Especially, my friends' birthdays are considered as the loving days.

Thanks for that. But you might not turn to special every year and that's why it might be more enjoyable. Thanks for your useful response.

yes, i still do, my mom and friends usually gets me the cake when its my birthday... i am not a fan of eating cake, but i still eat some when i want to. with or without cake, i still like to celebrate my birthday, as long as my family and friends are with me, during the celebration so that we can cherish the moment. but it does'nt really matter if there is a cake or not...

chocolate cake - This is our favorite cake, we usually buy this one to celebrate a family member's birthday
I always celebrate my birthday with a cake even up until now, first of all, because I just love chocolate cakes and birthdays are great excuse to be able to eat them without guilt hehe. And my kids love them too, they get all excited when they find out that someone in the family is going to celebrate their birthday because that would mean ice cream and cakes

As we gets older celebrating a party with our Birthdays is not necessary. I also celebrating my Birthday this coming Sunday. Happy Birthday to me, I'm turning 26. I don't want to invite anyone and I don't want to have a party. I want to celebrate my birthday alone I know it is weird.
