No, it's not a typo, I said "left wing extremists" I am still reading the document, however, i thought i would put it up for you all to make your judgment. from the prelininaries, they are using the same tactics in generaliizing, I still haven't evaluated the specifics enough to give propper and intelligent opinion though, will have to get back to that one. In the mean time, here it is, look it over and think of the larger implications. http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/Leftwing_Extremist_Threat.pdf

If you have voted for/against both democrats AND republicans, you might be a centrist extremist. If you watch Fox news AND CNN, you might be a centrist extremist. If you listen to Rock music AND folk songs, you might be a centrist extremist. If you love America AND complain about the government, you might be a centrist extremist.

So, first there were rightwing extremists and now there are leftwing extremists. Is there anyone left who is not suspect now? Oh wait, the illegal immigrants are the only ones left!

there are extremists on both sides, no doubt of that, even a few dangerous nuts. but these reports paint such a broad brush that it leaves much open to interpretation. Another thing it does (coincidence??), and is relevent to your discission "I'm not the enemy" is it once again, gives us reason to be susicious of the other, and be at odds, each report demonizes the other side and there are plenty of sheep in this country on both sides who will perpetuate the same demonization in those documents, and even further, deepen the devide and raise the tension level between us, does this sound accidental to you?

No, it doesn't and I hope that we, as a people, are smart enough to realize that. I have to admit that I was very offended by the references to our returning military personnel in the first report but, now that the second one is out, this poly should be pretty obvious to most rational folks. The problem is that not everyone is rational so, yes, this will only serve to divide us further...unless those of us who can see the handwriting on the wall speak out...loudly and often.

spalladino, I wouldn't expect the Obama administration to do anything to illegal immigrants except offer them citizenship. xfahctor, these reports are red herrings designed to deflect attention away from the failures of the Obama administration and the flailing economy. Why should the media cover all the job losses when there is a new dog living in the White House? We can't let the American public know that their governments pays off terrorists, so let's use some fear tactics to create a smokescreen. Pay no attention to the President behind the curtain. He is the great and powerful Oz...uh Obama, and he hasn't been paying ransom money to the economic terrorists who are responsible for destroying trillions of dollars of wealth at all. Bailouts aren't debt traps or protectionism, they're stimulus! The economy is doing great it's just the extremists that everyone has to worry about.

I think Steve Benen at Political Animal said it pretty well: "...Now, given this, are liberal media figures, pundits, bloggers, and talk-show hosts likely to throw a complete fit? It seems unlikely, for one simple reason: I don't think DHS is referring to liberal media figures, pundits, bloggers, and talk-show hosts. It's what struck me as so strange yesterday. When DHS raised concerns about radical right-wing extremists who might commit acts of violence, Limbaugh, Hannity, Dobbs, Malkin, and others immediately thought, "Wait, maybe they're talking about us!" With DHS also concerned about "left-wing extremists," it seems mainstream liberals aren't especially concerned about being lumped in with a violent fringe." We've got people in the center and people on both ends to different degrees. Some are pretty darn liberal and some are pretty darn conservative but that doesn't make any of them "extremists", it just means they know what they believe and they're consistent in their beliefs. Then you have the fringe groups on both ends, the ones who may be willing to commit acts of violence to promote their cause. I'm a "left-winger" to most of you here on myLot and I know lots of you here who I would consider to be "right-wingers"; I'm not an extremist by any means and I don't think any of my fellow members here on the opposite side to be extremists either and I hope they know I'm not. Regarding the DHS reports, I think it's good that they recognize the fact that threats can come from either side. Isn't that their job, to try and prevent us from being blindsided? Annie

annie, don't you see what is happening? You honestly don't see the devisive technique being applied? These reports are so general they could apply to anyone. the left wing even goes as far as to target "non violent" groups.

So let me guess...this means unless you completely and totally agree with this adminstration than you are a extremist. It does not matter what party you are with. YOu are either with Obama and his admin completely or you are against them. No middle ground.

This report was released on January 26; Obama took office on Jan. 20. That report has nothing to do with the Obama Administration since I don't think it was completed in six days and Obama hadn't even had time to put any of is own people in by then. Annie

Oh Bush definately shares in the blame about homeland security. Not only did he start the whole organization but he also started a lot of these reports. I hated it and spoke out about it when bush was in office. But Obama is allowing it to continue. He said while campaigning he would get rid of hte patriot act. Yet he is expanding it. He said he wanted more transparency and accountability....yet homeland security is out there calling Ron Paul supporters and Third party candidates "extremist and domestic terrorist". Obama needs to stop it.

I think the DHS just put this one out to pretend they are being fair. You know, kind of like how the UN made it against the law to insult religion but it really means it's only against the law to insult Islam. Don't we all know their are some extremest out there? It seems to me that they should be spending their time and our money on more important things like the problems at the border.

A third of congress and half of the 0bama admin. can be lumped under the Anarchist= socialist, communist groups. Isn't it odd that Anarchists have been lumped together with socialists and communists? DHS is the new brownshirts. The gov't created DHS shortly after 9/11 because everyone was scared and thought it would protect us from external threats. However, it didn't take washington long to turn it inward looking, more of a secret police thingy.
