Is it a must for us to hold the knife in our right hand and fork in our left hands when we eat meals? what is the reason lying behind this? i guess mose people in the world are right-handed, and our right hand has more strength and power so that most of us use right hand to cut meat or some other food iwth our right hand?

That is certain a very interesting question. For me, I have been doing it all my life so it is habit for me. To try and break the habit, it would be difficult for me.

My uncle said we set our knife across the top of the Plate, and then switch our fork to the right hand because during the pre revolutionary war days that would be a symbol to the other patriots at the table that you were with them and not with the British or Tories .

I've found it easier to apply pressure and cut with the right so use the knife with right hand. It's much easier to pick and hold down with the left hand.
