Did they ever plan on getting the money back?

Some bail out and TARP bail out companies are now trying to repay their bailout loans. Some are even trying to pay them off completely including interest. Heres the kicker.....The government is refusing the take the money and give back their shares of the company. You would think with how in debt we are that the governmetn would be falling all over htemselves to take the money and give them back control of their companies. But they aren't. What is really going on here? Why are they refusing the money? Was this the plan all along?
Tell me what you think.

That was the reason for the TARP and the bail outs. The government now has control over some of these companies and they are not about to let go. They will get their foot in the door of others if they can. They don't mind spending our money at all. The voters ask for all this and they are gettin it.

the companies are screaming like crazy because htey were told that once they paid off the loans they would get back control of their companies. I think the government is playing dirty. They knew all along that they were going to do this but just did not tell the companies. The government talks about dirty and bad business pratices of wall street yet they are being just as dirty.

Of course the government is refusing to give back the shares. This is all part of Obama's move towards Socialism in our country. He isn't fooling anyone. This is all part of his plan...

LIL, remember these "poor companies" are the companies that sent Paulson up to capital hill to beg congress to pass this. It wasn't congress that brought this up, it was the president of the United States. You also should remember that many of these companies that got TARP money CAUSED the worse recession in 70 years. I think that we should remember that many of these companies are not innocent, and are actually to blame for much of our economic problems.

Lil, I heard this discussion this morning on CNBC. Do you know why Henry Paulson made all of the big banks take the money? The reason is because they didn't want the world to know what banks were in trouble. See if you bank is in trouble then you get a run on the bank, and it can destroy corporations in seconds. If some companies start to give the money back, then you know which companies needed the money, and which ones are in trouble. Thus, causing the collapse of some major banks. Do you think this is a great idea?

The banks in trouble would be bailed out with the money from teh government plus regulated and controlled by the government so there would not any runs on them. Plus I think we should know which ones made bad business decisions so we can make an informed decision before we choose to do business with them. THe banks and companies that are not in trouble and do not need the bail out money should not be punished. Plus it is a waste of tax payer dollars to give it to them.
But hten I was not in favor in of the bail outs in the first place.

Lil, lets be honest here: Would you personally put your money into a bank that is: Run bad, by the government, and regulated by the government? From your past post I already know the answer to that question. I understand how you feel about this idea of bailing out all banks, but if you have a problem with this blame Bush and Paulson, they are the ones that did this, and it had nothing at all to do with Congress. Remember, Henry Paulson was the one that handed out the money while Bush was in office, and he was the one that made all of the CEO's take the money. Let me tell you one thing right now, all of the banks that received bail out money should be punished, they are the ones that got the world in this mess.

I blame the heck out of Bush and congress for this mess. Well the part htey did. I blame Obama and this congress for the bail outs and wasteful spending they have done.
I did not like Bush.I am absolutely mad at congress. Both the ones that were in place with Bush and the ones in place now. They are hte ones who are truely to blame for all the bails outs, the waste, pork, pet projects...oh and putting it in the bail out that the companies could still pay out their CEOs huge bonuses with our tax dollars. I think they have done a completely shoddy job of things. Not just hte bail outs but how the bills were wrote. THey did not put the correct safe guards in place even. They failed to protect our money. I think every last one of them (both parties) should be voted out and new ones put in. Start with a clean slate. Oh and term limits. Definately term limits on congress.

If this is the case then we all need to write our representitives and express our views. Remember that in 2010 1/3 of the US Senate will be up for reelection and all of the House will be up for reelection. The people of Penn. expressed concern over how Senator Spector was voting and he has changed his position on several key issues. It may require that you get involved in local politics and work for a person to unseat the incumbent. If you can do that the new person will look back and remember that the people removed the old guy.

Do you think we can wait that long and still have a viable country? Will we not have lost our Sovereinty by then? China and the Arab Emerites already own most of our debt as it is. What if they call our bluff before then? We are the only country in the world that lets foreigners buy up our land and property and it is going like hotcakes. Every other country makes foreign nationals purchase with a national. You only own land with a national not by yourself. Are we stupid or what?

I can't say I'm surprised. I think this may have been the plan under Bush as well, although I'm not sure since congress wrote the bill. I've heard, although I'm not sure, that many banks that DIDN'T want bailout money got it anyway. When you pair money forced on banks, with a subsequent refusal to take it back plus interest, that tells me this bailout was staged to force socialism on the people and let government take control of the banking industry. With a federal government that's too incompetent to deliver mail, the idea of them controlling banks really scares the crap out of me.

It is all about control. It has nothing to do with the money. It is the first step in their agenda to create a communistic state. There will be a small very rich control group and a very large controlled poor group. At least that is what they hope for.
If Texas leads the way, they may have something to contend with!!!
