Have you ever had an Office Romance? is it a good idea to date your co-worker?

I am totally in love with my new co worker at the office. He only just started working about a month ago and he is so hot! He's our new IT administrator. I work on reception so everybody usually pass by my desk and most time I don't notice, but when he comes by I can smell him before he comes as he wears a very nice perfume. Everytime he talks I just quiver like a chicken about to be made dinner. Sometimes I deliberately sabotage my computer so that he can come and I can just smell him. I never used to pay attention to my appearance but ever since he arrived I've stepped up my game. I even offer to make him coffee and get him lunch.. something that I do not do unless somebody asks. Ofcourse am not the only girl in the office who has eyes on him. It's now like a contest in the office to see who will get his most attention. I don't know if he feels the same way as he's very quiet and doesnt talk much. Last week during our team meeting, I usually do the minute taking. It was Friday so it's casual day and he was wearing a tight t-shirt and tight jeans with smashing snickers,and you could see his six pack muscles through his shirt. As he was the last person to come to the meeting the only available chair was the one next to me as nobody sits next to me during meetings. I couldnt write and I couldnt even listen to what was being said. And now I cant stop thinking about him and it is really affecting my work and I don't know what to do. I have never asked a guy out before so am too chicken to do it. I know office romances are a no no. I usually advice people not to go for it but now I'm in this position and I dont know if its right to persue it? Have you ever dated your co-worker? if you did how did it end? What advice can you tell me regarding this? Please help as i cant stand tormenting myself over this..... Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
